NJ Taxpayers: Here’s How to Track Your Refund Status

With the April 15 tax filing deadline fast approaching, New Jersey and federal tax authorities have begun issuing refunds for the 2024 season. Taxpayers can track their refund status online using the ‘Where’s My Refund’ tool or by phone, but processing times vary depending on how returns were filed. Keep in mind, several factors could delay the issuance of a refund. For example, incorrect direct deposit details or missing information may slow down processing. If the state requires additional documentation, a letter will be sent to the taxpayer, and delays can extend by several months depending on the complexity of the case.

NJDOT Lowers Speed Limits on Gateway to North Wildwood

Driver beware! Speed limit changes are now in effect on Route 147 leading into North Wildwood. Route 147 is a 4.20-mile state highway located in Cape May County. It is a short connector between U.S. Route 9 in Middle Township and North Wildwood at New York Avenue. The New Jersey DOT has reduced speeds along key stretches of the highway, with the final section dropping to 25 mph at the city border. While signs are still being installed, the new limits have been enforced since March 2025.

Cape May Faces Debate Over Recycling Limits Ahead of April 15 Hearing

The Cape May Taxpayers Association opposes a proposed ordinance that expands recycling pickup services for commercial properties. Citing fairness as a central issue, the group is advocating for a policy that treats all property owners equally. Specifically, they propose a uniform recycling pickup limit of one 96-gallon container per property, whether residential or commercial. This approach, they argue, would still represent an improvement for commercial establishments, which currently receive no city-provided recycling service under the existing code. They also cite safety and fairness concerns, and are urging residents to attend the public hearing on April 15 at City Hall.
