Local Golf Program Aims to Guide Youth with Clubs, Confidence, and Community

A quiet driving range in Rio Grande recently became a launching pad for more than just golf balls. Around 35 young golfers from Wildwood, ages 9 to 18, took to the Cape May Par 3 Golf & Driving Range as part of a new program — a free initiative that blends the fundamentals of golf with essential life skills and mentorship. "Mentor on the Green" is a free golf and life skills program currently operating in Wildwood, NJ. Co-founded by Dan Sinclair and James Cooper in 2024, the initiative combines golf instruction with professional mentorship to build character and steer kids away from negative influences. With support from school districts and organizations like NJ4S and the NJ Golf Association, the program aims to expand into new areas such as Woodbine.
Artificial Ski Slopes and Arenas: Atlantic City’s Reinvention Moves Forward

D-Wayne Prieto, CEO of Vivo Investment Partners, is leading a $1 billion redevelopment project in Atlantic City, centered around the Claridge Hotel. The plan includes a 20,000-seat arena, a massive artificial ski slope, esports and wellness facilities, and residential and hospitality expansions. Focused entirely on non-casino entertainment, the initiative seeks to reposition Atlantic City as a year-round destination and has gained support from city leadership. Completion is expected within five years, with funding support planned from the state's Aspire Program.
Cape May Gears Up for World Series of Birding and Spring Migration Rush

Cape May is gearing up for the World Series of Birding on May 10, a competitive and conservation-driven birding event that coincides with peak spring migration. Founded in 1984 by New Jersey Audubon, the event now features 85 teams who will attempt to count as many bird species as possible in 24 hours. With various participation styles—including eco-friendly and location-based options—the event raises significant funds for wildlife conservation and welcomes birders of all ages and experience levels.
