New Jersey’s 2025 Blue Crab Season Begins with Updated Regulations

New Jersey's 2025 blue crab season runs from now through Nov. 30, with an extension in the Delaware Bay area until Dec. 4. Recreational crabbers must follow size limits—4.5 inches for hard crabs, 3.5 for soft crabs, and 3 inches for peelers. Each person can harvest up to one bushel daily. A license is required for crab pots or trot lines, and undersized or egg-carrying females must be returned. Proper gear, handling, and crab care are essential for a safe and legal outing.
