New Jersey’s Film Industry Booms with 42 Productions Already Set for 2025

New Jersey is experiencing a film production boom, with 42 projects already signed on for 2025, thanks in large part to generous tax incentives. The momentum was celebrated this week at the NJ Film Expo, held at the Meadowlands, where industry leaders, government officials, and media professionals gathered for a day of panels and networking. The event highlighted the state’s growing influence in the film and television industry and the strategic incentives driving the boom. At the NJ Film Expo, officials highlighted how the growing sector is not only drawing global filmmakers but also boosting local economies across the state.

Speed Limit Lowered on Route 147 as North Wildwood Development Grows

The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) has announced a permanent change to speed limits along NJ Route 147, also known locally as West Spruce Avenue and North Wildwood Boulevard. The change follows a detailed traffic study that concluded existing speed limits were no longer safe, given the area's evolving landscape. The revised limit applies from New York Avenue to the western base of the Beach Creek Bridge, covering approximately mile marker 3.25.

Atlantic City Mayor and Superintendent Wife Face July Trial for Alleged Child Abuse

Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small and his wife, Superintendent La’Quetta Small, will face trial in July on charges of physically abusing their teenage daughter. A judge recently denied their request to dismiss the case. The couple, who control major city and school budgets, are navigating both legal and political turmoil. The legal troubles come as Mayor Small faces a political challenge from Bob McDevitt in the upcoming June 10 Democratic primary, putting additional pressure on an already embattled administration.
