New Look, Same Ride: Wildwood Boardwalk Tram Cars Debut Updated Design

Wildwood’s iconic boardwalk tram cars are getting a modern makeover this season, with newly designed trucks replacing the classic engines. Despite the emotional response, city officials and tram car operators assure riders that the essential experience remains intact. The new trucks promise improved efficiency and reliability—something the original engines, with their age and maintenance needs, struggled to deliver. The revamped tram cars will debut on Saturday, May 10, just in time for the start of the summer season. While the look may be different, the ride—steeped in decades of tradition—continues.

We Don’t Have Radar’: Newark Airspace Chaos Reveals Deep FAA Failures

A critical radar and communication failure at Newark Airport left air traffic controllers unable to guide planes for several minutes, triggering trauma leave for multiple FAA employees and compounding an ongoing staffing crisis. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy acknowledged that Newark’s situation is the result of long-standing neglect and promised a sweeping overhaul of the nation’s air traffic control systems. But with summer travel demand looming, many fear that Newark’s troubles are just the beginning unless bold reforms are enacted quickly.

Golden Alexander: The Native Bloom That Brings Hummingbirds and Butterflies Flocking

Home gardeners looking to draw more hummingbirds and pollinators into their yards can do so with a vibrant, low-maintenance native plant: golden Alexander. Known for its bright yellow blooms, this wildflower is a powerful magnet for hummingbirds, butterflies, bees, and songbirds. In addition to supporting pollinators, it serves as a larval host plant and helps control pests. This perennial typically reaches 1 to 2 feet in height and spread, bringing seasonal brightness from early spring into early summer. As summer progresses, its seeds naturally fall near the parent plant, ensuring a self-sustaining presence year after year. Unfallen seeds often remain through winter, offering food for seed-loving birds. Hardy and easy to grow, it thrives in moist soil and partial sun, making it ideal for rain gardens and native plant landscapes across USDA zones 3 to 8.
