Cape May Zoo Mourns Loss of Cody, Beloved Black Bear Known for High-Fives

Cody, a 20-year-old American black bear and longtime favorite at the Cape May County Zoo, has died following a decline in health. Known for his sweet personality and love of peanut butter, it was Cody’s unique bond with his keepers that left a lasting impression. He had a cooperative spirit during training sessions, he would often greet his caretakers with playful high-fives, a gesture that brought smiles even on the hardest days. “Cody had a way of brightening every interaction,” the zoo shared in a heartfelt message. “His presence brought joy, and his memory will be cherished by those who cared for him.” As May begins, the Cape May County Zoo says goodbye to a beloved companion whose legacy of warmth and connection will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.

From Cape May to Hell’s Kitchen: Kyle Timpson Inspires Students Before Big Move

Cape May Tech alumnus and Hell’s Kitchen Season 23 winner Kyle Timpson returned to his roots to mentor culinary students before beginning his new role as head chef at the Hell’s Kitchen restaurant at Foxwoods Resort Casino. Timpson, the first openly gay man to win the show, inspired students with his story of local beginnings, national success, and a passion for cooking that continues to grow. As he prepares to take on his next role in Connecticut, Timpson remains a source of pride for South Jersey. His return to Cape May Tech was more than a visit—it was a full-circle moment, proving to students that their dreams are within reach with hard work and heart.
