Cape May Wawa Sells Winning $10,000 Scratch-Off Ticket

New Jersey Lottery officials announced that a $10,000-winning scratch-off ticket was sold on May 4th at the Wawa located at 3719 Bayshore Road. During the week of May 4–10, nine scratch-off tickets worth at least $10,000 were sold throughout the state, showcasing just how lively the Garden State’s lottery scene remains.

Feds Knew Early: New Jersey Drone Sightings Were Mostly Aircraft, Not Threats

The widespread alarm over drone sightings across New Jersey in late 2024 appears to have stemmed from misinterpretations rather than any true mystery, newly released documents reveal. Though fears spread rapidly through official channels and social media, federal authorities were aware early on that many of the reported drones were, in fact, commercial aircraft. Only recently have more detailed findings come to light, thanks to an internal Transportation Security Administration presentation made public by the libertarian outlet Reason.com. The report sheds light on major incidents, explaining that visual illusions likely played a key role. For instance, the supposed drones that forced a medevac diversion were actually three airplanes approaching Solberg Airport, their formation creating the mistaken impression of hovering drones.

New Jersey Faces 32% Energy Hike as Murphy Shifts Strategy After Wind Energy Collapse

New Jersey residents face a 32% increase in electricity rates over the past year, spurred by rising capacity market costs and the collapse of wind energy projects. Governor Murphy announced new measures to mitigate the impact, including utility relief efforts, expanded solar programs, nuclear research exploration, and enhanced energy assistance initiatives. Additionally, the NJBPU has issued a call for information on advanced nuclear technologies, recognizing the need for new, stable energy sources as demand from industries like data centers surges. Efficiency programs have also delivered significant savings, cutting customer bills by about $600 million to date and easing strain on the energy grid. Though offshore wind ambitions have faltered, New Jersey’s new roadmap focuses on diversifying clean energy options and bolstering traditional generation capacity to stabilize the state’s energy future.
