NJ Gubernatorial Matchup Set: Sherrill vs. Ciattarelli in November

New Jersey’s June 10 primary election confirmed Mikie Sherrill as the Democratic nominee and Jack Ciattarelli as the Republican nominee for governor. Just minutes after polls closed, results began to take shape. By 8:20 p.m., former state Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli was declared the winner of the Republican primary by the Associated Press. Not long after, around 8:40 p.m., the AP also confirmed U.S. Representative Mikie Sherrill as the Democratic nominee. The two emerged from crowded fields in a race to replace outgoing Governor Phil Murphy. They will face off in the general election on November 4, with full control of state governance at stake.

Atlantic Shores Pulls Plug on Offshore Wind Project Off NJ Coast

Atlantic Shores has asked New Jersey regulators to cancel its offshore wind project approval, citing financial losses, regulatory setbacks, and political opposition. Atlantic Shores had been in a leading position for New Jersey’s offshore wind program since October 2023, when Orsted, the Danish energy company, withdrew from its Ocean Wind initiatives. By October 2024, Atlantic Shores had secured all necessary federal permits—until the EPA reversed its approval, ultimately undercutting the project’s foundation. Despite withdrawing, Atlantic Shores remains supportive of New Jersey’s clean energy ambitions.
