Barefoot Fest Reveals 2026 Dates, Extends Wildwood Run Through 2030

Barefoot Country Music Fest (BCMF) just completed its’ fifth year having taken over the Wildwood shoreline once again with four days of nonstop music, drawing tens of thousands to the sand. This year’s lineup featured over 40 artists, including powerhouse performances from Lainey Wilson and the reunited Rascal Flatts, Jason Aldean and Jelly Roll.  BCMF’s journey began under difficult circumstances—the inaugural 2020 event was postponed due to COVID-19, and the rescheduled 2021 launch faced rainy weather. Still, each year since has built on that foundation, turning the festival into a beloved East Coast tradition. During a dazzling drone light show on Friday night, organizers announced that the 6th annual BCMF is officially set for June 18–21, 2026. The festival has also extended its agreement with the City of Wildwood, guaranteeing its return for at least five more years.

Ocean City Group Proposes “Wonderland Commons” as Alternative to Boardwalk Hotel Plan

Ocean City 2050, a local advocacy group, has proposed an alternative to a controversial hotel development at the former Gillian’s Wonderland site. Their plan, Wonderland Commons, features a scaled-down amusement park, food trucks, digital entertainment, public attractions, and boutique lodging. This comes in response to Eustace Mita’s plan for a 252-room hotel, which has faced growing opposition. Mita’s project awaits a possible City Council hearing in August. As the debate unfolds, the former Wonderland site is seeing interim use. On Friday, the first official day of summer, the area was open to the public with arcade games, food vendors, and bike rentals. Although the carousel remains closed, other businesses—including the newly rebranded Ocean City Pizza Company—are up and running, preserving a sense of continuity for local residents and tourists alike. With no confirmed date for Mita’s official presentation, the future of the 6th Street Boardwalk remains undecided, as community leaders and developers continue to wrestle over what direction best serves Ocean City.

New Jersey Enforces Strict Two-Plate Rule for All Vehicles

New Jersey is strictly enforcing its requirement that all vehicles display both front and rear license plates. Authorities warn that any vehicle with missing, obscured, or improperly displayed plates will be subject to immediate citations. Unlike states that only require rear plates, New Jersey continues to mandate dual plate display for standard passenger vehicles. The regulation, which has long been in effect, is a key part of the state's broader initiative to enhance roadway monitoring and public safety. Drivers found in violation may receive citations on the spot, and the state has issued a clear warning: compliance is not optional. The rule, unchanged in recent years, is part of an ongoing effort to improve road safety and enforcement capabilities statewide..
