The event, centered around the Nature Center, includes free family activities, educational programs, and local vendors. Live music will add to the festive atmosphere, with the reggae band Ear Me Now performing on the Nature Center’s deck. Known for their energetic performances across the Tri-State area since 2016, the band is a familiar favorite among Cape May audiences. Delaware Avenue will transform into a festival zone, with food trucks and a beer garden featuring brews by Mudhen. Coast Guard Ceremony Marks Change of Command at Training Center

Capt. Amanda M. Lee has taken over command of the U.S. Coast Guard Training Center in Cape May, succeeding Capt. Warren D. Judge during a formal ceremony. Lee previously advised senior Coast Guard leaders in Washington, D.C. Capt. Lee arrives in Cape May after serving as the Special Assistant to the Commandant of the Coast Guard, where she contributed to high-level policy and strategic planning. As the new commanding officer, she steps into a pivotal role at the nation’s only training facility for incoming enlisted personnel. Capt. Judge, who had led the base since July 2022, is now transitioning to a new assignment as Chief of Staff for the Fifth Coast Guard District, headquartered in Portsmouth, Virginia. The change of command ceremony upheld a longstanding military tradition, symbolizing the full transfer of responsibility and leadership. As one of the Coast Guard’s largest installations, the Cape May Training Center continues its mission of transforming civilian recruits into disciplined, mission-ready members of the service.
