Cape May Native Leads Redevelopment of New $1 Million Film Studio Coming to South Jersey

A new chapter in South Jersey’s economic and creative future is unfolding with the launch of Atlantic Motion Picture Studios (AMPS), a state-of-the-art film production campus coming to Egg Harbor City. Spearheaded by Cape May native and award-winning producer Jonathan Sachar, the project is backed by over $1 million in infrastructure funding and key support from the Atlantic County Economic Alliance (ACEA) and the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs. Sachar’s latest success, the feature film Killing Mary Sue, which was shot entirely in New Jersey and recently swept the 2025 LA Film Festival, winning Best Picture, Best Actor, and Best Actress. The film features a high-profile cast including Dermot Mulroney, Sierra McCormick, and Jason Mewes, and showcases original music by South Jersey singer-songwriter Maddie Hogan.

Summer 2025: What’s New and Noteworthy on the Wildwood Boardwalk

Summer 2025 brings a wave of fresh energy to the Wildwood boardwalk, with new attractions, good news for foodies, and a different-looking tramcar experience. Whether you’re a seasoned boardwalk enthusiast or a first-time visitor, there’s plenty to discover along the lively stretch of shoreline this season. New food spots like JJ’s Spuds and Dogs and John’s Water Ice are serving creative comfort food and classic Philly treats, while Blossom Teriyaki & Sushi brings fresh Asian flavors. Meanwhile, the iconic tramcar is testing a modern upgrade with a Ford truck leading the way. The boardwalk is as vibrant as ever with fresh flavors and fun experiences.

State Recommends 76–78°F Thermostat Settings to Curb Power Usage

With temperatures soaring, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy is urging residents to conserve electricity to ease stress on the power grid. Recommendations include setting thermostats to 76–78°F, keeping blinds closed, unplugging unused electronics, and avoiding the use of major appliances during peak hours. Cooling centers are open in several counties, and residents can call 2-1-1 for locations. The New Jersey Board of Public Utilities continues to monitor electricity usage but has not issued any emergency conservation orders. The National Weather Service has extended a heat advisory through Friday, with real-feel temperatures expected to top 100 degrees in several inland regions. Officials remain on alert as the heat wave continues through the weekend.
