New Vision for Cape May Airport Emerges as County Plans Takeover

Cape May County will retake control of Cape May Airport in 2029 when its lease with the Delaware River and Bay Authority ends. The county declined to renew the lease, aiming to use the property for projects that better serve local residents. A proposed privately funded sports complex highlights future development possibilities. The county will reimburse the DRBA over $30 million for prior investments and plans to bond that amount. Officials say the change is a strategic move to boost local revenue and community opportunities.
