Where to Watch Fireworks in Cape May County This Fourth of July Weekend

With Independence Day falling on a Friday this year, New Jersey is set for a festive, extended holiday weekend filled with fireworks, concerts, parades, and family-friendly events. Communities across the Garden State will host a variety of celebrations spanning from the weekend before July 4 through the holiday itself. While sparklers and small ground fireworks are permitted under state law, residents are reminded to leave the big displays to the professionals. Luckily, dozens of towns are offering just that—safe, crowd-pleasing pyrotechnics paired with music, parades, and activities for all ages.
Here’s a look at some of the top Independence Day events happening across Cape May County:
Avalon: Festivities kick off on July 4 with a festive boat parade, starting at 3 p.m. from the Avalon Yacht Club. Live music by American Soul follows from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Surfside Park, culminating in a beachside fireworks display at dusk.
Cape May: The skies above Congress Hall will light up at 9 p.m. on July 4, offering a classic seaside fireworks show in front of one of New Jersey’s most iconic historic hotels.
Lower Township: Celebrations start early in North Cape May with a bayfront Independence Day Festival on July 3. Beginning at 5 p.m., the event features rides, food vendors, and live entertainment, with fireworks capping off the night at 9 p.m.
Middle Township: The party begins at 5 p.m. on July 4 at the Goshen Sports Complex. Attendees can enjoy live music, family games, and a variety of food and craft vendors. Fireworks launch at dusk.
Ocean City: The holiday starts bright and early on July 4 with a bike parade at 10 a.m. (registration opens at 9 a.m.). Later, a kite flying competition will be held at 7 p.m., followed by a dazzling fireworks show at 9 p.m. over 9th Street Beach.
Sea Isle City: Fireworks begin at 9:15 p.m. on July 4 at the 50th Street Beach. Music will accompany the show along sections of the beachfront promenade.
Stone Harbor: A live band sets the mood for the evening at 81st Street and Second Avenue before fireworks launch at dusk on July 4.
Wildwood: End the night with one of the largest displays in the region. Fireworks are set to ignite over the beach at 10 p.m. on July 4, best viewed from Pine Avenue or along the Wildwoods Boardwalk.
With events big and small taking place across Cape May County, this year’s Fourth of July celebrations promise something for everyone—from morning parades to starlit fireworks. Whether you're staying local or heading to the shore, get ready for a weekend of red, white, and boom.
Sea Monster Horror Movie to Invade Wildwood, NJ in New Indie Film Deal

Screamify, an indie horror streaming service based in Nashville, has signed a development deal with filmmaker David Keane to produce a sea monster horror film set in Wildwood, New Jersey. Keane, known for his 2023 short film Dirty Jersey, which reimagined the Jersey Devil myth, is stepping into feature-length territory with this project. His talent for blending folklore with gritty horror caught Screamify’s attention, and the collaboration aims to deliver a compelling monster movie that retains the heart and grit of indie filmmaking. Set along the Jersey Shore, the film promises a suspenseful mix of regional legend and classic monster movie thrills. Though the exact storyline remains under wraps, early concept details suggest a practical-effects-heavy production that relies on atmosphere and tangible scares rather than CGI spectacle. This marks one of Screamify’s first original productions and includes a behind-the-scenes documentary. The move underscores Screamify’s commitment to elevating indie horror by directly funding and supporting new content.
Wildfires, Water, and Warnings: The Battle to Protect New Jersey’s Pinelands

Black Run Creek in Evesham Township, a vital and pristine ecosystem within the New Jersey Pinelands, is under renewed threat from proposed housing developments, climate-driven wildfires, and lax enforcement. Conservationists are pushing for stronger protections, including new zoning and water withdrawal restrictions. While progress has been made, questions remain about the adequacy and longevity of these efforts amid political uncertainty and increasing environmental stress.
