As E-Bikes Surge in Popularity, Local Leaders Debate Public Safety Measures

A resident of North Cape May raised safety concerns at a Lower Township Council meeting, saying teens on e-bikes, minibikes, and dirt bikes are riding recklessly through the Clem Mulligan Sports Complex. Township officials are considering new rules or even a park-wide ban on such vehicles. Similar issues are being addressed in Wildwood, where e-bikes are banned from the boardwalk and violators face citations. As e-bike use grows, officials and bike shop owners stress the need for clearer regulations and responsible use, especially around public spaces.
