Cape May Magic: Mets' Baty Proposes to Longtime Girlfriend

 Mets third baseman Brett Baty proposed to longtime girlfriend Anna Sprys in Cape May, NJ, in a beachside moment captured and shared on Instagram. The couple, who first went public in the same town in 2022, celebrated their engagement with champagne. Sprys, a Pittsburgh native, is an accomplished athlete in her own right, having played collegiate volleyball at SUNY Binghamton. She currently works as a marketing coordinator with The Growth Partnership.. The proposal adds a personal milestone to Baty’s standout year.

Avalon and Other Shore Towns Left Vulnerable as Beach Funding Dries Up

Beach replenishment projects along the Jersey Shore have been canceled for the winter due to a complete lack of federal funding—the first such occurrence in nearly 30 years. These projects, vital for protecting coastlines and supporting tourism, typically receive up to $200 million in national funding annually. The halt has raised concerns about increased vulnerability to storm damage and the economic risks to communities dependent on summer tourism. Officials, including Rep. Jeff Van Drew, are advocating for funding restoration in 2026 and seeking more cost-effective solutions for long-term shoreline protection.

From Sea Isle to Strathmere: Ice Cream Vending Now Officially Licensed

 Upper Township has approved two new licenses for ice cream vendors on Strathmere beaches, increasing the total to three. While some residents raised concerns about beach crowding and noise, township officials see the move as a revenue opportunity and a way to regulate existing informal vending. With vendor fees in place and future potential for competitive bidding, the decision aims to balance public enjoyment with financial benefits.
