Jackson’s Youth Baseball Champs Take Aim at Little League World Series

Not exactly Cape May, but it IS a team from New Jersey! The Jackson Holbrook 12U All-Stars are undefeated and heading to the Little League World Series Regionals in Bristol, Connecticut. After clinching their 14th consecutive win and sweeping the New Jersey state tournament, the team is set to represent the Garden State in the Mid-Atlantic bracket. Their first regional matchup is scheduled for Saturday at 4 p.m. in Bristol, Connecticut, and will be streamed live on ESPN+. A GoFundMe has been launched to help cover travel expenses. Community members can show their support and contribute to the team’s efforts by donating at: gofundme.com/f/donate-to-support-holbrook-little-league.
End of Summer Steals: Major Savings at Wildwood Convention Center

The Wildwoods Convention Center is hosting a major back-to-school warehouse clothing sale from July 31 to August 12. Families can save up to 80% on kids’, tweens’, and teens’ apparel, with some adult options available. Inside the convention center, attendees will find aisles filled with discounted jeans, t-shirts, hoodies, shoes, accessories, and more. Whether your student wears a uniform or follows the latest fashion trends, the variety of styles and sizes ensures there’s something for everyone. The event includes ample parking, air-conditioning, and snack vendors, making it a convenient and affordable shopping experience before summer ends.
Don’t Let Your Beach Umbrella Become a Flying Hazard

After being seriously injured by a flying beach umbrella in 2015, Ed Quigley has become a leading voice for umbrella safety. He visited Cape May County this spring to promote proper installation techniques. Quigley cautioned Wildwood commissioners that, in high winds, an umbrella can become “a javelin with a sail on it,” emphasizing the need for proper equipment. We saw it happen this past June in Asbury Park when a lifeguard was impaled in a freak accident. While screw-style anchors are popular, they can fail in strong gusts. Weighted sand-based anchors, when properly filled, are considered far more reliable. New ASTM standards now recommend that umbrellas withstand winds of at least 30 mph and use anchors that offer 75 pounds of resistance. Tools like the beach-BUB system are considered among the safest on the market.

Answer: D) All of the above.
Cape May is known for its rich history, including the unfortunate burning of the Mount Vernon Hotel, which was designed to be the largest hotel in the world at the time. Additionally, the city is famous for "Cape May diamonds," which are quartz pebbles found on its beaches. The entire city is also designated as a National Historic Landmark, largely due to its well-preserved Victorian architecture.
