New Hotel Could Rise at Ferry Site, First in Cape May in 50 Years

The Delaware River and Bay Authority (DRBA) is exploring the possibility of building a boutique hotel on the grounds of the Cape May-Lewes Ferry terminal in North Cape May. Presented during a recent Lower Township Council meeting, the early-stage proposal suggests a first-class, low-rise hotel that could bring approximately 50 full-time jobs and generate around $6.3 million annually in economic impact. The hotel faces zoning hurdles due to the site's conservation status. The DRBA is in the early stages of planning and public engagement, aiming for a possible opening in 2029.

Wildwoods Beach Project in Jeopardy as Towns Clash Over Sand Plan

A 54 million dollar beach replenishment project for the Wildwoods and part of Lower Township is at risk after years of planning. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has warned that without agreement from local municipalities by the end of September, the federal funding will be redirected. North Wildwood and Lower Township support the project, but Wildwood and Wildwood Crest have expressed concerns about tourism and beach access. Wildwood Crest’s attempted withdrawal led to a legal dispute, which remains unresolved. With time running out, the future of the project remains uncertain.
