Cape May Shines as New Jersey’s Most Family-Friendly Beach

One of New Jersey’s most beloved coastal destinations has received national recognition as one of the top family-friendly beaches in the United States. Cape May has earned a spot on Cabin Zero’s exclusive list of the 22 best beaches in America for a family vacation—making it the only New Jersey location to make the cut. Ranked at #13, Cape May stood out among stiff competition from across the country and joined just six other beaches from the Northeast region. Other recognized destinations include Rehoboth Beach in Delaware, Ocean City in Maryland, Nantucket in Massachusetts, Kennebunkport in Maine, Virginia Beach in Virginia, and Cape Cod’s Coast Guard Beach.
Bomb Threat Prompts Temporary Closure of Wildwood Boardwalk
A portion of the Wildwood boardwalk was closed Friday afternoon after police received a bomb threat targeting a business on the 3300 block, just steps from Franconi’s Pizza — a shop recently thrust into the spotlight over controversial images circulating online. Police did not confirm the business named in the threat, and it remains unclear whether the incident was connected to Franconi’s Pizza. Authorities continue to investigate and are urging anyone with information to contact the Wildwood Police Department Detective Division at 609-522-0222. Officials also thanked the Wildwood Fire Department, Cape May County Sheriff’s Office, and Wildwood Crest Police Department for assisting in the response.
August’s Celestial Double Feature: Planetary Parade and Perseids

Skywatchers are in for a rare treat over the next several days, as a striking planetary alignment and the peak of the Perseid meteor shower take center stage in the pre-dawn hours. The alignment begins just before sunrise on August 10 and will continue to be visible for roughly two weeks. Such a lineup won’t occur again until February 2026. While six planets will be part of the arrangement, only a few will be bright enough to see without equipment. Jupiter and Venus will be the most prominent, appearing side by side in the Gemini constellation in the eastern sky. On August 12, the two will appear just 1° apart—their closest approach of the year—creating the illusion that they are almost touching. As a bonus, the Perseid meteor shower will hit its peak on the nights of August 12–13, potentially producing up to 100 meteors per hour under optimal conditions. Current forecasts suggest mostly clear to partly cloudy skies in the early mornings, giving viewers a good chance to witness both celestial spectacles.
