House Fire in Wildwood Draws Regional Support, Ends Without Serious Harm

A house fire broke out Tuesday morning on Glenwood Avenue in Wildwood, prompting a rapid response from multiple fire departments across the area. The blaze was brought under control within 15 minutes, with no serious injuries reported. One occupant escaped safely and was treated for smoke inhalation. The fire remains under investigation. Support came from multiple departments across the area, including Wildwood Crest, Rio Grande, and others. Additional coverage was provided by departments such as Stone Harbor, Anglesea, and North Wildwood Volunteer Fire Company to ensure the island remained protected throughout the emergency. This response showcased the strength of regional cooperation, as fire companies from across South Jersey came together with precision and purpose.
Controversial Bill Targets Homeschool Families With New State Mandates

New Jersey lawmakers have introduced Assembly Bill 5825, which would impose new registration, curriculum, and certification requirements on homeschooling families. Critics contend there is no evidence of widespread educational neglect among homeschoolers in New Jersey to justify such sweeping changes. They say the legislation unfairly targets families who choose alternative education paths, shifting the burden of proof onto parents to demonstrate compliance — rather than presuming good faith, as has traditionally been the case. The legislation is part of a broader push to increase regulation of non-traditional education in the state.
Holocaust Survivor Tova Friedman to Speak in Wildwood

Tova Friedman, whose bestselling memoir The Daughter of Auschwitz recounts her harrowing experiences as a child at Auschwitz-Birkenau, is scheduled to speak at 4 p.m. on Sunday, August 17, at Beth Judah Temple. The free event promises a firsthand account of life inside one of history’s most notorious death camps, as well as a broader message opposing violence and extremism. Friedman’s book, which has earned a spot on The New York Times bestseller list, has received widespread acclaim for its unflinching portrayal of survival and resilience. Seating for the event is limited, and reservations are required. Those interested in attending should RSVP by calling 609-522-7541 or emailing [email protected]. Beth Judah Temple is located at 3912 Pacific Avenue in Wildwood.
