AirFest 2025 Lands in Cape May with World’s First Jet Fighter

AirFest 2025 will take place from August 28 to 31 at Cape May Airport in Lower Township, hosted by the Naval Air Station Wildwood Aviation Museum. The featured aircraft is the historic Messerschmitt Me 262, the world’s first operational jet fighter. Other aircraft include the Goodyear FG-1D Corsair, C-53 “Beach City Baby,” SNJ / AT-6 Texan, Fuji LM-1 “Nikko,” and a partially restored B-25J SandBar Mitchell. The event also includes aircraft fly-ins, community partner appearances, food trucks, kids’ activities, and interactive museum exhibits inside historic Hangar 1. In addition to the aircraft and aviation demonstrations, local organizations such as AtlantiCare, the Cape May County Mosquito Commission, and potentially the New Jersey State Police and U.S. Coast Guard will also be present, depending on schedules and weather conditions.
Amid Soaring Energy Bills, NJ Cracks Down on Utility Secrecy

In response to mounting public concern over steep electricity rate increases, New Jersey has enacted a new law requiring state-regulated utilities to publicly disclose how they vote on decisions made by PJM Interconnection, the regional grid operator that coordinates electricity across multiple states. The law, signed by Governor Phil Murphy on August 15, takes effect immediately. It mandates transparency from utility companies participating in PJM’s governance, ensuring their positions on market rules, infrastructure projects, and energy policy proposals are accessible to the public and state regulators. PJM Interconnection plays a pivotal role in managing electricity transmission across 13 states and the District of Columbia, including New Jersey. Decisions made by the organization can have substantial impacts on energy pricing and supply.
Shore Towns Eye ‘Second Season’ to Make Up for Sluggish Summer

Ocean City businesses faced a challenging summer due to early-season rain, intense July heat, and disruptions from Hurricane Erin. While July saw a slight rebound, overall traffic remained below expectations. Shops are now offering discounts in hopes of strong Labor Day sales. Looking ahead, Ocean City and nearby shore towns like the Wildwoods are turning their attention to the “second season”—a post-Labor Day stretch running through Thanksgiving. A calendar full of weekend events is in the works, aimed at drawing families back to the shore. For local shops and restaurants, much will depend on whether the weather finally cooperates and encourages spending into the fall.
