New Jersey Gas Prices Dip to 5-Year Low Just in Time for Labor Day

New Jersey drivers are enjoying the lowest Labor Day gas prices in five years, with current averages at $3.05 per gallon — 21 cents less than last year. Prices in the Garden State are bucking the national average, which has risen to $3.18 per gallon. Some of the cheapest gas in the state is currently priced as low as $2.71 at brand-name stations, according to data from GasBuddy, a real-time fuel price tracking service. Analysts credit increased oil production from OPEC and the upcoming switch to winter-blend gas for the drop. Prices are expected to continue falling into September, barring major storms or global disruptions.

Firefighters Gather in Wildwoods for Landmark 140th Convention Weekend

The 140th Annual New Jersey State Firemen’s Convention returns to the Wildwoods on September 12–13, 2025, marking 50 years at the Shore. Events include the NJ Fire Expo, Memorial Parade, Craft Show, and Fire Muster, along with a 9/11 Stair Climb tribute and several remembrance ceremonies on September 11. Thousands of firefighters and families are expected to attend. As one of New Jersey’s most storied firefighter events, the convention continues to unite departments from all 21 counties in celebration of service, tradition, and sacrifice.

Hummingbird Migration in Full Swing—Track Sightings and Attract Visitors

Hummingbirds are currently migrating south for the fall, offering birdwatchers a final chance to spot them before they disappear for the season. The ruby-throated species is the most common in the East, while western regions host a variety of other types. A real-time map from Hummingbird Central lets users track sightings and report their own. To attract hummingbirds, keep feeders clean and filled, add native flowers, and leave feeders up through late October or longer.
