Wildwood Boardwalk Never Closes—But Here’s When the Rides and Shops Do

As summer draws to a close, many visitors start wondering: When does the Wildwood Boardwalk close for the season? The iconic boardwalk, which spans nearly two miles along the Wildwood coastline, is open 24/7, 365 days a year. However, the shops, restaurants, arcades, and attractions that bring the boardwalk to life operate on seasonal schedules, many of which start winding down as soon as September arrives. As for the piers? Morey’s usually continues running select rides through early October, with special events like the Irish Festival and Oktoberfest extending the season a bit longer. While you can visit the Wildwood Boardwalk any day of the year, the full summer experience is largely a seasonal delight that begins to fade as autumn approaches.

Fire Strikes $5M Waterfront Home in Ocean City; No Injuries Reported

A late-night fire caused significant damage to a multimillion-dollar waterfront home in Ocean City last Wednesday. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Emergency crews responded at 11:38 p.m. to a property at 15 Tobago Lane, where flames and heavy smoke were seen pouring from the rear of the upscale residence. Firefighters brought the blaze under control by 12:20 a.m. using hose lines to contain it to the site. The luxury single-family home, situated along a lagoon just off Bay Avenue, is estimated to be worth nearly $5 million, according to online real estate sources. At the time of the fire, the house was unoccupied. City officials have not yet disclosed the full extent of the damage. The Ocean City Fire Department, along with the Cape May County Fire Marshal’s Office, is currently investigating the cause and origin of the fire.
