Cape May Makes the Cut for Top U.S. Fall Beach Destinations

As reported earlier, after a decade of serving locals and tourists alike, the Exit Zero Filling Station in West Cape May is preparing to shut its doors. Now it’s being reported that it will hit the auction block. The well-known restaurant property, located at 110 Sunset Boulevard, will be sold through an online auction, with opening bids starting at $2 million. The popular eatery will officially close on September 20. Rather than continuing with a traditional sale, the owner chose to move forward with the auction approach after originally listing the property for $4.7 million earlier this year. The auction is being managed by Tranzon, a national real estate auction company. Interested buyers can preview the property in person during open house events scheduled for September 11 and September 18, both from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Dead Shark Washes Ashore at Wildwood Crest, Draws Beachgoers' Attention

A surprising sight greeted beachgoers in Wildwood Crest on Saturday morning when a large dead shark was found washed ashore near Hildreth Avenue. The unexpected discovery drew the attention of visitors early in the day, turning a routine beach outing into a moment of intrigue. Local authorities were contacted shortly after the shark was spotted, and crews worked quickly to remove the animal from the sand. While the exact cause and time of death remain unknown, officials noted that red flag warnings were in place due to dangerous surf conditions. These turbulent waves may have contributed to the shark being pushed onto the shore.

Wildwood to Host Annual 9/11 Memorial at Byrne Plaza

Each year, the Wildwood Business Improvement District (WBID) hosts a solemn ceremony to honor the lives lost and forever changed by the September 11, 2001 attacks. This year’s event will once again bring the community together in remembrance of the 2,977 victims, as well as the thousands who were injured during the tragic events. The ceremony also pays tribute to the many first responders who have died in the years since due to 9/11-related illnesses. The event will take place at Byrne Plaza, located at 3400 Pacific Avenue in Downtown Wildwood. Residents and visitors alike are encouraged to attend and ensure that the legacy of that day remains in collective memory.
