Cape May, West Cape May Consider School Merger to Address Costs and Enrollment

Cape May and West Cape May school districts are commissioning a feasibility study on consolidating their pre-K to 6 operations, supported by a $50,000 state grant. With declining state aid and shared services already in place, the small, neighboring districts aim to assess whether a merger could improve efficiency and lower costs. Cost per pupil remains a concern, with Cape May and West Cape May reporting much higher figures—over $32,000 and $28,000 respectively—compared to Lower Township’s $19,139 per student. Officials hope the study will offer a clearer picture of how consolidation might address such disparities. The study is due by June 2026 and will include community input.
Steps of Remembrance: Community Climbs in Tribute to 9/11 Lives Lost

In a powerful tribute to the lives lost on September 11, 2001, members of the Wildwood community came together early this morning to participate in a commemorative stair climb. The number of steps taken matched the 110 floors of the World Trade Center’s Twin Towers, serving as a symbolic gesture of remembrance and solidarity. Local residents were joined by area firefighters, police officers, and a former member of the New York Police Department who once served during the tragic events of 9/11. His presence served as a poignant reminder of the personal losses endured that day, and the importance of fostering unity and peace in the face of tragedy. The event brought together participants of all ages, each taking part to honor the memory of first responders, civilians, and all those affected by one of the most significant moments in American history.
Ghostly Encounters Await at Cape May’s Historic Hotel Macomber

Cape May, known for its charming Victorian architecture and rich history, has long held a reputation for ghostly tales and paranormal intrigue. It’s no surprise then that this coastal town would be home to a hotel steeped in supernatural lore. According to the report, Hotel Macomber is at the center of many ghost stories, with visitors describing unexplained cold spots, phantom whispers, and even ghostly apparitions. With its rich history and seaside charm, the Macomber remains a popular destination for guests drawn to both its beauty and its haunted reputation.
