Cape May County SWAT Team to Conduct Drill on Seashore Road
Residents near Seashore Road in Cold Spring can expect increased police activity this Thursday, September 18, as the Cape May County Regional SWAT Team conducts scheduled training exercises. The drills will take place at 1068 Seashore Road between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Officials emphasize that this is only a training operation and there is no threat to the public. The exercises are part of ongoing preparedness training for the regional SWAT team, ensuring officers remain ready to respond to high-risk situations across the county. Residents may notice law enforcement vehicles, tactical gear, and simulated scenarios during the day-long session.
Storm Surge Forces Closure of Key Cape May County Bridge

The Townsends Inlet Bridge between Sea Isle City and Avalon has been closed due to flooding caused by stormy weather. The Avalon side approach road frequently floods when waves breach the seawall. County officials are considering raising the seawall with a 2-foot concrete cap to prevent future closures. The estimated cost is around $3 million. Until the bridge reopens, motorists traveling between Sea Isle City and Avalon will need to use extended detour routes via the Garden State Parkway or Route 9, significantly increasing travel time.
