Vintage Racing Hits Wildwood Beach for The Race of Gentlemen This October
Get ready for a high-octane blast from the past as The Race of Gentlemen roars back onto the sands of Wildwood from October 3–5, 2025. This beloved annual event celebrates America’s racing roots with vintage cars and motorcycles competing in thrilling exhibition-style races along the beach. Hosted by Stultz & Son Productions, the weekend-long festival showcases pre-1934 cars and pre-1947 motorcycles in head-to-head drag races on the hard-packed sand by the water’s edge. With a nod to a time when early hot rods were built in backyards and raced for glory, the event blends speed, nostalgia, and craftsmanship. Spectators are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance, though passes will also be available at the gate. Children under 5 enter free, while minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Outside food, drinks, coolers, and backpacks are not permitted in the race area. The Race of Gentlemen continues to offer an unforgettable mix of roaring engines, sand, and seaside Americana — making it one of the most unique automotive events on the East Coast.
Court Orders Cape May Fishing Club to Vacate Wildlife Area After Lease Dispute
After decades of operation near Higbee Beach in Cape May County, the Sunset Beach Sportsmen’s Club has been ordered to vacate its longtime location following a court ruling in favor of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). In a decision handed down on September 30, the New Jersey Appellate Division upheld an earlier ruling from Cape May County Superior Court that awarded possession of the state-managed land to the DEP. The court found that the club, which has been situated on the property since at least the 1950s, had no legal right to remain after failing to secure a valid lease agreement. The club, a recreational and social organization for about 200 local anglers and hunters, operated on the site for over two decades without a formal lease after the state acquired the property in 1999. The DEP purchased the land using federal funds to expand the Higbee Beach Wildlife Management Area, a protected area with restrictions that conflict with the club’s activities—including the serving of alcohol. Although the club attempted to negotiate a new lease with the DEP after the purchase, the two parties never came to an agreement. The ruling also dismissed all of the club’s counterclaims, which included breach of contract and failure to follow relocation procedures. Judges determined the DEP had acted within its legal authority and maintained fair dealings throughout the process.
Dangerous Surf Ahead: Officials Urge Swimmers to Stay Out of Ocean at NJ Beaches

As summer officially fades, the threat at the Jersey Shore hasn't washed away with the crowds. Weather officials are warning beachgoers to stay out of the ocean this week as Hurricanes Humberto and Imelda churn up the Atlantic, bringing large waves, beach erosion, and life-threatening rip currents to the New Jersey coastline. The National Weather Service has issued a high rip current risk through at least Wednesday, citing strong offshore storm activity and gusty coastal winds. Even with inviting temperatures in the upper 70s and low 80s expected through the weekend, authorities caution that the surf remains dangerously unpredictable. Officials are urging beachgoers to stay out of the ocean due to life-threatening conditions, especially with no supervision now in place. Atlantic City alone reported over 1,100 rescues this summer, and several drownings occurred at unguarded beaches.
Cape May is often considered the oldest seaside resort in the United States. When did it first begin attracting vacationers? |
Answer to the October 1st Trivia Question

A) The Green Flash
B) Sunset Beach
C) Cape May Point
D) Cape May Cove
Answer: B) Sunset Beach
Sunset Beach in Cape May is one of the few places on the East Coast where you can watch the sun set over the Atlantic Ocean. This rare sight is due to the beach's unique geographical location on the southern tip of New Jersey.
