Beacon Animal Rescue Tees Up Second-Annual Golf Fundraiser at Big Little Nine

Animal lovers and golf enthusiasts alike are invited to hit the greens for a good cause as Beacon Animal Rescue hosts its second-annual Golf Fundraiser on Saturday, October 11, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Big Little Nine Golf Course in Cape May Court House. Nestled across 89 acres of scenic meadows, willow oak trees, ponds, and waterfalls, Big Little Nine is known for its relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere. The par-3 course—operated by Morey’s Piers and Beachfront Water Parks—has once again opened its fairways to Beacon for what promises to be a fun-filled day supporting a lifesaving mission. This year’s event adds a savory bonus: Casey’s Cause Food Truck will be on-site serving up mouthwatering BBQ and rotisserie-style dishes. A portion of food sales will be donated to Beacon Animal Rescue, adding even more meaning to every bite. Coca-Cola products will also be available for purchase throughout the event. The golf fundraiser is open to all skill levels—from seasoned players to first-time swingers—and welcomes families, friends, and supporters of Beacon's animal rescue efforts. Entry is $35 per golfer, with a portion of the proceeds going directly to support Beacon’s work rescuing and rehoming cats and dogs across Cape May, Atlantic, and Cumberland counties. Businesses looking to show their support can sponsor individual tees or holes, with sponsorship inquiries directed to [email protected].. Beacon Animal Rescue, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit located at 701 Butter Road in Ocean View, is dedicated to providing a safe, no-kill shelter for homeless cats and dogs while advocating for responsible pet ownership, spaying and neutering, and community education. With a beautiful course, great food, and a mission worth supporting, the Oct. 11 golf outing at Big Little Nine offers the perfect way to enjoy the outdoors and give back—one swing at a time. Participants can register and purchase tickets online at Chronogolf.com
Jersey Dino Park Closes—and You Can Now Buy a Life-Sized Dinosaur Online

Field Station: Dinosaurs, the popular dino-themed attraction in Leonia, is closing its gates for good on November 9. But instead of fading quietly into extinction, the park is going out with a bang—by putting its entire collection of life-sized animatronic dinosaurs up for sale online. Prices range from $500 to $2,900, with buyers responsible for removal and transport. These aren't just static models—many of them move and make sounds, thanks to built-in animatronics and voice boxes. The park, originally opened in Secaucus in 2012, relocated to Leonia in 2016 and is now permanently shutting down.
Historic Fishing Pier in Wildwood Crest Set for Major Upgrade

Wildwood Crest is moving ahead with an ambitious $7 million project to rebuild and expand its historic fishing pier, a beloved coastal landmark that has stood since 1910. The borough has filed an application under New Jersey’s Coastal Area Facility Review Act (CAFRA), marking a key step in a multi-phase effort to enhance both the safety and accessibility of the structure while preserving its historic character. The historic pier was last restored in 2006 through a $400,000 ADA grant following storm damage. This new expansion reflects a broader commitment to maintaining the pier as a vital part of the community, accessible to all visitors, including those with disabilities. With fishing listed as one of Cape May County’s top recreational activities, the pier continues to serve as a central gathering point. Borough officials see the expansion not just as a tourism investment, but as a lasting tribute to Wildwood Crest’s history and identity.
