Cape May Police Investigate Bar Incident, Seek Help Identifying Six Women

Cape May authorities are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying six women linked to an incident that took place at a local bar and restaurant. Details about what transpired remain scarce, as police have not disclosed the nature of the incident or whether it involved any criminal activity. Security footage captured the women inside the establishment, but the images released are of notably poor quality. Despite the unclear visuals, the Cape May Police Department hopes someone may recognize the individuals and assist in the ongoing investigation. The department is encouraging anyone with information to reach out to the Detective Division for further assistance.
Hear Poe’s ‘The Tell-Tale Heart’ Performed Live This Halloween at Rea’s Farm

This Halloween, Rea’s Farm in West Cape May is transforming into a celebration of classic literature and seasonal fun. On Thursday, October 31, the farm at 400 Stevens Street will host an evening of activities from 5 to 8 p.m., headlined by dramatic readings of Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Tell-Tale Heart.” The event is free and open to all, with guests encouraged to attend in costume. Highlights include hayrides, a pumpkin patch, a corn maze, and a variety of local vendors. Participating businesses include Obscura Brewery, Rita’s, Nonna Lisa, Gigi’s House, Exit 000 Skincare, and Nauti Spirits. Affordable dinners and bottles of Cape May Winery wine will be available for purchase. The main attraction—the Poe performances—will take place at 6:30 p.m. and again at 7:30 p.m. These readings are presented by Classic American Tales, an organization dedicated to bringing timeless American literature to life.
Phantom Footsteps and Barking Dogs: The Eerie Legend of the Physick Estate

According to a new list from Ranker.com, the most haunted house in New Jersey might be one you've already visited—especially if you've taken part in a walking tour or festival in Cape May. The honor goes to the Emlen Physick Estate, a stately Victorian home dating back to 1879. Located at 1048 Washington Street, this historic house is not only one of Cape May’s most iconic structures, but it now carries the eerie title of the Garden State’s most haunted residence. Built for Dr. Emlen Physick Jr., a descendant of a prominent medical family, the estate is known for its architectural beauty and deep history. But behind its charming façade, stories of paranormal activity have lingered for decades. The mansion sat abandoned for a portion of the 20th century before being rescued by the City of Cape May. Today, it is operated by the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts & Humanities and offers regular tours to visitors—some of whom report more than just elegant décor. Guests have claimed to see unexplained shadowy figures darting through hallways and have heard the laughter or cries of a ghostly child echoing through empty rooms. Another eerie detail: while the estate currently enforces a no-pets policy, visitors still claim to hear dogs barking—possibly a remnant of the 14 dogs that once lived there under Dr. Physick’s care. Tours are available throughout the year and tickets can be purchased online. Whether you're in it for the history or the hauntings, the Physick Estate remains one of Cape May's most compelling landmarks.
