Bidding Continues for Former Exit Zero Filling Station in Cape May

Exit Zero Filling Station in West Cape May, a well-known Jersey Shore restaurant property remains on the auction block this week. The online auction, hosted by real estate firm Tranzon, will close at 1 p.m. on Thursday, November 6. Located at 110 Sunset Boulevard, the Exit Zero Filling Station closed its doors on September 20 after nearly ten years in operation. Auction organizers have confirmed that the minimum reserve price has been reduced, creating a new opportunity for potential buyers to secure the property. The seller and the bank are aiming to finalize a deal before the end of the year. The property was initially listed earlier in 2025 for $4.7 million through local real estate agencies. Seeking a broader pool of buyers and a more competitive offer, the owner opted to move the sale to an online auction format in early September. The Exit Zero Filling Station had become a landmark in the Cape May area, known for its creative dining space and unique branding. Now, with its future in flux, the site could soon take on a new chapter—depending on who places the winning bid.
Luxury Hotel and Apartment Proposal Highlight Wildwood’s Changing Skyline

As the off-season settles in across the Wildwoods, construction activity is ramping up, with several major developments already underway. With the summer crowds gone and traffic reduced, fall and winter offer the ideal window for developers to move forward on ambitious projects before the next beach season begins. One of the most significant new proposals is an 18-unit apartment complex planned for Wildwood. While specific details about the project’s design and timeline have not yet been disclosed, its introduction signals continued momentum in reshaping parts of the island once dominated by older motels and seasonal lots. Among the most prominent projects in this neighborhood is the Wild Resort, a boutique luxury hotel currently in construction. When completed, it will offer around 75 rooms, a rooftop pool, and a bar and restaurant boasting sweeping ocean views. The ground floor is also set to feature a mix of branded retail and local shops. With a targeted opening in summer 2026, the Wild Resort is poised to become one of Wildwood’s most upscale lodging options, underscoring the island’s push toward higher-end tourism and year-round appeal.
Early Morning Flights to Fertilize Avalon’s Dunes Nov. 6–7

Avalon is set to carry out its annual dune grass fertilization this week, with operations tentatively scheduled for November 6–7, depending on weather conditions. Residents and visitors may notice a small plane flying low over the beach area during the early morning hours as part of the environmentally friendly initiative. The fertilization process will involve the aerial application of non-toxic, pelletized fertilizer over the dune grass that stretches from 8th Street to 80th Street. The operation is expected to begin around 7:00 a.m., with the aircraft making between three and five passes at intervals of approximately 20 to 23 minutes. The entire procedure typically wraps up in under three hours. This coastal dune maintenance effort is carried out in accordance with guidance from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, which supports such fertilization practices to promote healthy dune ecosystems and enhance the natural protection they provide against coastal erosion and storm surge.
