Cape May Joins Statewide Rebellion Against NJDEP Overreach

Cape May County has voted to oppose New Jersey’s new climate regulations (PACT and REAL), calling them unlawful, economically damaging, and scientifically questionable. The county claims the NJDEP overstepped its authority by implementing the rules via executive order rather than legislation. Officials also dispute the sea level rise projections used to justify the rules. Resolution 600-25 authorizes the county to sue the state. This move joins a growing statewide resistance against the NJDEP’s approach, with other counties and municipalities also voicing concerns.

Wildwoods Keep Winning: More National Accolades for NJ’s Classic Shore Town

The Wildwoods are once again riding a wave of national praise, securing their place among the most celebrated seaside destinations in the U.S. Thanks to recent recognition from top travel sites and publications, the popular New Jersey resort towns continue to attract attention for their vibrant beaches, historic Boardwalk, and signature events.

The travel site Islands.com named the Wildwoods’ beaches among America’s Best White Sand Beaches, calling them spacious, soft, and centrally located in the action. The site also praised the town’s lively Boardwalk for offering an “all-American vibe.”

Discoverer.com added to the accolades by listing the Wildwoods’ Boardwalk among 6 Historic Beach Boardwalks Everyone Should Visit, applauding its nostalgic atmosphere, Doo Wop architecture, and ties to early rock ’n’ roll culture.

Throughout 2025, the Wildwoods—which include Wildwood, North Wildwood, and Wildwood Crest—have earned recognition from major outlets like USA Today, Newsweek, HGTV, Travel + Leisure, The New York Times, and TripAdvisor. These honors celebrate not only the beaches and Boardwalk but also the island’s dynamic calendar of events and retro-chic charm.

Among the major events returning in 2026 are the Barefoot Country Music Festival (June 18–21) featuring over 40 big-name acts, and the Thunder Over the Waves airshow (September 11–12), which continues to draw crowds to the shoreline.

With decades of history and an ever-growing list of accolades, the Wildwoods remain a top-tier travel destination for beachgoers, music lovers, and families looking for classic seaside fun with a modern twist.
