Cape May’s Clemans Theater Hosts Special Screenings of The Muppet Christmas

Cape May’s East Lynne Theater Company is bringing a beloved holiday film to the big screen this December with a daylong celebration of The Muppet Christmas Carol. The special movie event will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, with three screenings at noon, 3 p.m., and 6 p.m. at the Clemans Theater for the Arts, located at 717 Franklin Street.

This marks East Lynne’s first Christmas celebration in its new home at the Clemans Theater, and the company is aiming to offer something magical for all ages. The 1992 Disney film, The Muppet Christmas Carol, blends classic Charles Dickens storytelling with the whimsical charm of the Muppets. Kermit the Frog stars as Bob Cratchit, Miss Piggy plays his wife, and Michael Caine takes on the iconic role of Ebenezer Scrooge. The film features memorable songs like “It Feels Like Christmas” and “One More Sleep 'Til Christmas,” and is widely regarded as one of the most cherished holiday movies ever made.

Tickets to each screening are $10, and families are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy the festive atmosphere. Just before the final showing, East Lynne Theater will also announce the winners of its year-long 50/50 raffle at 5:45 p.m. Prizes include up to $6,000 for first place, $1,200 for second, and $300 for third.

The event is part of East Lynne’s growing calendar of year-round programming as the company settles into its home at the Clemans Theater. Known for preserving and presenting America’s theatrical heritage, East Lynne continues to evolve, embracing new opportunities to connect with audiences through film, stage, and cultural events.

North Wildwood’s Iconic Panoramic Motel Reimagined as Beach House Condos

A staple of North Wildwood’s shorefront landscape since the mid-1960s has officially entered a new chapter. The former Panoramic Motel and Apartments, known for its retro charm and memorable signage, has been reborn as The Beach House of North Wildwood Condominiums—a modern coastal retreat just steps from the boardwalk.

Open since 1965, the Panoramic was one of those instantly recognizable properties that stood as a nostalgic marker for generations of vacationers. Now reimagined as a 13-unit condominium complex, the updated property offers one-bedroom condos priced between $299,777 and $314,777, with direct beach and boardwalk access—no street crossings required.

The renovation, which took just over a year to complete, preserved the property’s beach-block allure while modernizing it for today’s buyers. Upgrades include a rebuilt swimming pool and deck area, vinyl plank flooring, reglazed bathrooms, fiberglass doors, and double-pane sliding windows.

The transformation is part of a broader trend reshaping the Wildwoods’ classic motel landscape. As the costs of renovating older properties continue to rise, many long-standing motels have either been sold, torn down, or converted into more sustainable real estate ventures.

The new Beach House Condominiums not only honor the past but offer a fresh future for a property deeply embedded in local memory—now with updated comforts and an investor-friendly model designed for seasonal renting and personal enjoyment alike.

Answer to the November 19h Trivia Question

What was the primary reason for constructing the Cape May Canal during World War II?

A) To create a shortcut for commercial shipping between New York and Philadelphia
B) To provide a protected route for maritime traffic to avoid German U-boat attacks
C) To facilitate the expansion of the Cape May-Lewes Ferry service
D) To connect inland waterways for recreational boating purposes

Answer: B) To provide a protected route for maritime traffic to avoid German U-boat attacks

The Cape May Canal was constructed by the United States Army Corps of Engineers in 1942 during World War II. Its primary purpose was to offer a secure passage for ships, allowing them to bypass the treacherous waters near Cape May Point where German U-boats were known to operate. This canal became a crucial link in the Intracoastal Waterway, enhancing the safety of coastal shipping during the war.
