Victorian Charm Lands Cape May on National Holiday List

Cape May’s timeless charm has once again captured national attention—this time as one of the 25 Best Christmas Towns in the U.S. according to Travel + Leisure. The beloved Jersey Shore destination landed in the 21st spot on the list, praised for its Victorian flair and festive holiday spirit.

The magazine highlighted Cape May’s postcard-perfect streets, glowing with garlands and seasonal lights, and its Dickensian ambiance during the winter season. Visitors are encouraged to stroll the Washington Street Mall, where decorated shop windows and traditional treats like fudge and saltwater taffy help create a nostalgic holiday experience.

To help visitors make the most of the holidays, the Greater Cape May Chamber of Commerce has released a Cape May Holiday Booklet and launched a companion website. The guide features a full lineup of tours, family-friendly events, dining options, and local entertainment scheduled from Thanksgiving week through New Year’s Day.

Chamber President Bernadette Matthews noted that the national recognition celebrates not just the town’s beauty, but the hard work of its residents and businesses in creating a magical holiday destination for all ages.

Step Back in Time: 1898 Wildwood Crest Home Hits Market

A 127-year-old, ten-bedroom Victorian mansion in Wildwood Crest is listed for $2.7 million. Built in 1898—before the town was incorporated—the historic home features original woodwork, stained glass, and a grand staircase. The property includes a corner lot, wraparound porch, and in-ground pool. Once a bed and breakfast, it’s been in the same family for over 60 years. The current owners hope the next buyer will preserve its historic charm. With rising property values, it's a rare chance to own one of the oldest homes in the Wildwoods.
