Tree Lighting Ceremony to Spark Holiday Spirit in West Cape May

West Cape May’s festive season officially begins on Friday, December 5 at 6 p.m. with the annual tree lighting ceremony at Wilbraham Park. The beloved tradition invites the community to gather for an evening of music, seasonal cheer, and sweet treats in the heart of the borough.

Guests can expect a cozy, family-friendly atmosphere featuring live holiday music performed by local entertainer Chris Eisenmann. A sing-along of favorite Christmas classics will help ring in the season, while light refreshments — including offerings from RSK Doughnuts — add a sweet note to the celebration.

Wilbraham Park, located between Myrtle Avenue and Perry Street, provides the perfect backdrop for the occasion. The park is a cherished landmark in West Cape May, cared for year-round by volunteers from the Shade Tree Commission and the Friends of Wilbraham Park. Their efforts ensure the space remains vibrant and welcoming for both residents and visitors.

The event is proudly supported by the West Cape May Shade Tree Commission, the Friends of Wilbraham Park, and the Department of Public Works, whose contributions help bring the holiday scene to life each year.

This festive evening also marks the unofficial start of the West Cape May Christmas Parade weekend, making it a perfect way to usher in the holiday spirit with neighbors and friends.

Wildwoods Announce December Schedule for Annual Tree Lighting Events

The Wildwoods are set to shine bright this December as four festive tree lighting ceremonies bring holiday cheer to communities across the island. From North Wildwood to Wildwood Crest and the Convention Center, residents and visitors are invited to celebrate the start of the season with music, lights, and family-friendly fun.

🎄 Wildwood Crest – Monday, December 1

The holiday festivities begin in Wildwood Crest with a tree lighting ceremony at Sunset Lake, located at Atlanta and New Jersey avenues. Starting at 5 p.m., guests can enjoy seasonal music, light refreshments, and a special appearance by Santa Claus. In case of rain, the event will take place the following evening.

🎄 Downtown Wildwood – Friday, December 5

Downtown Wildwood’s Byrne Plaza will glow with holiday spirit during the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony hosted by the Wildwood Business Improvement District. The lighting is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., following the annual Christmas Parade and awards ceremony. The celebration is part of the larger Christmas in the Plaza Festival, which includes holiday-themed entertainment and community activities.

🎄 North Wildwood – Saturday, December 6

At 5 p.m., the Hereford Inlet Lighthouse Courtyard will host North Wildwood’s tree lighting. Guests can enjoy live holiday music from the Margaret Mace School Choir, refreshments, and a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus. Attendees are also welcome to take a self-guided tour of the historic lighthouse, with its gardens and courtyard beautifully decorated for the season.

🎄 Wildwoods Convention Center – Saturday, December 13

The final celebration takes place at the Wildwoods Convention Center as part of the all-day Family Holiday Celebration. Beginning at 4 p.m., Santa and Mrs. Claus will help light the tree outside the Convention Center, wrapping up a festive day of holiday fun.

Each ceremony offers a unique way to welcome the holidays in true Wildwoods fashion—full of joy, community, and twinkling lights.

Exit 6 Site to Become Massive Two-Story Dining and Entertainment Hub

A major redevelopment is planned for 100 and 108 East Walnut Avenue in North Wildwood. The proposal includes demolishing existing structures, including the former Exit 6 bar, to build a large, two-story bar and restaurant complex. The ground floor will feature outdoor bars, a central stage, and indoor service areas, while the second floor will host a full-service restaurant with indoor and outdoor dining. Utility disconnections suggest demolition is imminent, though a construction start date has not been announced.
