All performances are free to attend, with donations welcomed to support the group's ongoing community efforts.

The Angelus Chorus traces its roots back to 1965, originally formed as part of the Angelus Convalescent Home near the Wildwood Boardwalk. Operated largely by a group of nuns, the home provided care for older adults and became the unlikely birthplace of a choir that has since evolved into a staple of the local arts scene.

Continuing its tradition of community support, the chorus launched a scholarship earlier this year aimed at encouraging high school seniors in Cape May County pursuing careers in vocal music or the performing arts. The $2,000 award was granted to a graduating senior entering college with a focus on these disciplines.

New Jersey Gas Tax Rising 4.2 Cents on January 1 to Fund Infrastructure

New Jersey’s gas tax will rise by 4.2 cents per gallon on January 1, 2026, due to a legally mandated adjustment tied to declining fuel use and transportation funding goals. The total gas tax will now be 49.1 cents per gallon for regular fuel. The increase aims to support the state’s $2.1 billion transportation budget and fund $11 billion in infrastructure projects over five years. The gas tax system, introduced in 2016 and revised in 2024, is intended to provide long-term stability for transportation funding. Since its inception, the formula has triggered five increases, two decreases, and two years without change. Despite public frustration over rising costs, state officials argue the tax is crucial to keeping New Jersey’s transportation infrastructure safe, modern, and well-maintained.
