Cape May's Holiday Spirit Marches In: Christmas Parade Set for Today

The spirit of the holidays will come alive in Cape May as the beloved West Cape May Christmas Parade returns on Today, at 5:00 PM. A cherished annual tradition, the festive spectacle will feature vibrant floats, marching bands, and seasonal cheer as it winds its way through the heart of the community.
The parade kicks off from the West Cape May Volunteer Firehouse and proceeds south along Broadway, then turns east onto Perry Street before concluding on Carpenter Lane, right in the heart of Cape May’s historic district. With streets already dressed in holiday decorations, the event marks the unofficial start of the Christmas season for many locals and visitors alike.
If inclement weather arises, the parade typically moves to the following Sunday, December 7, though attendees are encouraged to check the Borough’s official website for final updates.
The parade launches a full calendar of festive happenings throughout the Victorian seaside town, including Holiday Lights Trolley Tours, caroling in the Washington Street Mall, and other seasonal favorites that draw visitors year after year.
Cape May County Backs Cemetery Restoration by Local Eagle Scouts

The Garden State Council of the Boy Scouts of America has received official approval from the Cape May County Board of County Commissioners to undertake an Eagle Scout project at the historic Almshouse Cemetery in Cape May Court House. The restoration initiative is set to begin before the end of 2025 and continue through April 2026.
Located on the former grounds of the county’s “Poor Farm,” later part of the Crest Haven facility complex, Almshouse Cemetery is a site of significant historical value. It serves as the final resting place for numerous indigent and elderly residents who once lived and worked on the County Farm.
The Eagle Scout project will focus on both preservation and education. Plans include restoring deteriorated headstones and grave markers, many of which have weathered or fallen over time. Where existing stones are missing or too damaged to repair, permanent grave markers will be installed. These new markers will feature poured concrete bases and durable resin or metal nameplates, accompanied by a burial directory to help identify those interred.
All work will be carried out under the supervision of the Cape May County Parks Department and in coordination with the Garden State Council, ensuring that preservation best practices are followed and the dignity of the site is maintained.
New Jersey Drivers Hit with Toll Increases Across Highways and Bridges in 2026

Traveling through New Jersey is about to get more expensive. Starting in early 2026, commuters and travelers will see toll increases across major highways and bridges, compounding the rising costs already faced by drivers.
The New Jersey Turnpike Authority has confirmed that tolls on both the New Jersey Turnpike and Garden State Parkway will increase by 3 percent on January 1. The adjustment, based on an annual formula tied to inflation and infrastructure funding needs, will result in modest fare hikes depending on the distance traveled.
For Parkway users, tolls will rise incrementally at entry and exit ramps throughout the state, while Turnpike drivers will notice slightly higher costs at mainline toll plazas. These changes stem from a policy adopted in 2020 that allows for annual increases to support long-term capital improvement plans.
Drivers crossing into Pennsylvania will also face higher tolls in 2026. The Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission plans to raise passenger vehicle tolls to $2 for E-ZPass users and $5 for Toll-by-Plate. Commercial vehicle rates will increase to $6.50 per axle (E-ZPass) and $8 per axle (Toll-by-Plate).
