Cape May Prepares for Hurricanes with Zoned Evacuation and Cell Alerts

Cape May County has rolled out a new four-zone evacuation plan to better manage responses to hurricanes and flooding. Zone A includes the Atlantic Ocean coastline and extends inland to the Garden State Parkway. Zone B lies west of the Parkway and stretches north of the Cape May Canal through Tuckahoe. Zone C follows the Delaware Bay shoreline, covering areas west of Bayshore Road in Del Haven and extending toward the Route 47/347 corridor. Zone D encompasses the northwestern corner of the county, including Woodbine, which, at 34 feet above sea level, is the highest point in Cape May County and home to one of several designated storm shelters. The county aims to educate the public, coordinate with local municipalities, and use cell alert systems to improve communication. The plan was developed with state and federal input and is designed to prevent residents from becoming stranded during major storms.
Allegiant Adds Four Florida Routes from Atlantic City Airport, Boosting Winter Travel Options

Allegiant Airlines has launched four new nonstop routes from Atlantic City International Airport to Florida, expanding travel options just in time for the winter snowbird season. Flights to Fort Lauderdale began December 11, with service to Orlando Sanford starting December 19. Routes to St. Pete–Clearwater and Punta Gorda will begin February 13, 2026. The expansion follows seven years of talks with airport officials and introduces new competition to Spirit Airlines, currently the dominant Florida carrier at ACY. Travelers now have more flexibility and potentially lower fares, though questions remain about pricing strategies and flight frequency.
