Beloved Education Animal Brynn the Silver Fox Dies at Cape May County Zoo

The Cape May County Zoo is mourning the loss of Brynn, a beloved silver fox who spent her life educating and inspiring visitors. Brynn arrived at the zoo as a young kit and remained there throughout her life, becoming a cherished education animal known for her playful personality and strong connection with keepers and guests. Over the years, she helped foster appreciation and understanding of wildlife for countless visitors. Zoo officials said Brynn was recently diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer. Given her advanced age and the lack of curative treatment options, the veterinary and animal care teams focused on keeping her comfortable through palliative care. While Brynn’s passing is deeply felt, zoo staff say her legacy will live on through the connections she helped create between people and wildlife, as well as the continued mission to protect and conserve animal species.
Cape May Poet Laureate Launches Four-Week Online Literature Series

Cape May Poet Laureate Dr. Sylvia Baer will invite readers of all backgrounds to explore some of the most influential works in world literature this February through a new online seminar series hosted by Cape May MAC. The four-part program, titled “Exploring Literary Greats: Four Online Seminars,” will consist of weekly 90-minute interactive discussions held via Zoom. The series will examine literary masterpieces that span centuries and cultures, all centered on the enduring question of what it means to be human. Participants will study selections from the ancient epic Gilgamesh, William Shakespeare’s The Tempest and Othello, Walt Whitman’s Leaves of Grass, and Ernest Hemingway’s The Old Man and the Sea. Each session is designed to encourage thoughtful conversation and shared interpretation rather than formal lectures, making the course accessible to both longtime readers and those new to literary study. The seminars are open to individuals at any level of knowledge or experience. While reading selections will be provided in advance at no additional cost, completing the readings is optional. Sessions will not be recorded, and participants are expected to keep their video cameras on to help create an engaging, collaborative learning environment with active participation and energetic discussion. Registration for the series costs $15. After registering, participants will receive a Zoom link and additional details ahead of the first session. Tickets and further information are available at capemaymac.org/exploring-literary-greats.
