One Killed in Fiery Helicopter Crash Following Midair Collision in South Jersey

A midair collision involving two helicopters near Hammonton Municipal Airport in southern New Jersey has left one person dead and another critically injured. The incident occurred late Sunday morning, prompting an immediate response from local emergency services. Authorities received multiple calls around 11:25 a.m. reporting a collision between two helicopters. Both aircraft crash-landed, with one erupting in flames upon impact. The Federal Aviation Administration later identified the helicopters as an Enstrom F-28A and an Enstrom 280C. Only the pilots were aboard each aircraft at the time of the crash. Emergency crews confirmed that one pilot died at the scene, while the other was rushed to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. The crash happened just outside the town of Hammonton, located about 35 miles southeast of Philadelphia. Local witnesses described hearing a loud impact, followed by one of the helicopters spiraling out of control before crashing. The National Transportation Safety Board will lead the investigation to determine the cause of the fatal collision, with the FAA assisting.
No More Cash: Expressway Drivers Face Higher Fees Without E-ZPass

Starting January 4, 2026, drivers on the Atlantic City Expressway will no longer be able to pay tolls with cash or coins. The expressway is transitioning to an all-electronic tolling system, a move intended to improve traffic flow and safety across the highway. For those who already use E-ZPass, the change will be relatively seamless. However, drivers without E-ZPass accounts will see a shift in how they're charged—and how much they pay. Instead of stopping at toll booths, cameras mounted on overhead gantries will capture license plate information, and a bill will be mailed to the vehicle’s registered owner. The cost for non-E-ZPass users is expected to double under the new system. If the mailed invoice goes unpaid, a second bill will be issued, adding a $5 late fee. Officials from the South Jersey Transportation Authority are encouraging frequent drivers to sign up for E-ZPass accounts to avoid these additional charges and potential delays. The shift aligns with a broader trend across the country toward cashless tolling infrastructure
Lower Cape May Wrestling Steps Up with Standout Performances in Morristown

Lower Cape May Regional High School made an impressive debut at the Sam Cali Invitational, one of New Jersey's most competitive high school wrestling tournaments, held at the Morristown Armory. The Capers, ranked No. 19 in the state preseason poll, are proving they belong among elite company in their first-ever appearance at the event. The team sent four wrestlers into the quarterfinals, Lower Cape May’s roster showcased its growing depth and rising talent. The Capers’ breakout showing in Morristown signals they’re not just participating—they’re contending. Lower Cape May is using the Sam Cali Invitational to challenge itself against the state's best, including twelve state medalists and numerous qualifiers. The Capers previously competed in the Pete Adams Memorial Tournament and the Gator Tournament and are ramping up for more top-tier events like the upcoming Escape the Rock in Pennsylvania. With eyes on the state finals at Boardwalk Hall in March, Lower Cape May’s coaching staff believes this tough schedule will prepare their athletes for postseason success. The program has traditionally competed in tournaments like the Cinnaminson Duals and Pine Barrens Duals, but this year's step up in competition reflects higher ambitions.
