Cape May Mini-Golf Vandalism: Man Accused of Destroying Humpty-Dumpty Structure

Authorities in Cape May, New Jersey, have arrested a 29-year-old man from Dallas, Pennsylvania, in connection with an act of vandalism that caused significant damage at a local miniature golf course. The incident occurred in the early morning hours of September 7, 2025, at the Ocean Putt Miniature Golf Course, located at Jackson Street and Beach Avenue. Around 8:57 p.m. that day, police responded to a report of damage and discovered a large fiberglass statue themed after the nursery rhyme character Humpty Dumpty had been forcibly detached from its foundation. Surveillance footage later reviewed by investigators allegedly showed two individuals walking near the golf course at approximately 4 a.m. One of them, identified by authorities as Blane Dongas, is seen climbing a fence, entering the property, and removing the statue. The damaged structure was then found discarded on neighboring grounds. Estimates to repair the statue stand at $1,000, while full replacement could cost as much as $2,000. Dongas has been charged with criminal mischief and trespassing. He turned himself in to Cape May police on January 19, 2026.

Job Seekers Invited to ShopRite Walk-In Hiring Events Next Saturday

ShopRite is opening its doors to job seekers with walk-in hiring events scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 31, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at participating stores across several states, including the Rio Grande location. These in-store hiring fairs require no pre-registration, offering attendees the opportunity to meet directly with hiring teams to explore a variety of available roles. Open positions range from entry-level opportunities—such as general clerks, front-end associates, and stock staff—to grocery department roles and management positions. ShopRite noted that many of the roles come with flexible scheduling, on-the-job training, and access to a gamified learning platform designed to help employees strengthen their skills and grow professionally. In addition to competitive pay, eligible employees may receive benefits such as store discounts, access to scholarship programs, and opportunities to get involved in community-focused efforts like hunger relief and sustainability initiatives. Those interested can find more details and a list of participating locations on ShopRite’s official careers website. A snow date is set for Saturday, Feb. 7, in the event of inclement weather.

Don’t Wait for Warm Weather: Now’s the Time to Book Your Jersey Shore Rental

While winter’s chill may have you reaching for a blanket instead of a beach towel, now is actually the prime time to book your summer rental at the Jersey Shore. The mid-winter months, from late December through early March, make up one of the busiest rental periods, and waiting too long could mean missing out on your preferred dates, locations, or amenities. Early booking ensures better selection and pricing, especially in popular areas like Wildwood, Ocean City, and Cape May. Vacationers can save money by booking directly with owners and choosing shoulder-season weeks in June or September. Properties with premium features like pools or pet-friendly options go fast. Last-minute bookings may be possible, but they offer limited choices and higher costs. Repeat renters often benefit from long-term relationships with property owners.
