Nino’s Family Restaurant Bids Farewell After Three Generations of Memories

After more than 30 years serving hearty meals and cherished memories, Nino’s Family Restaurant in Cape May Courthouse has closed its doors for good. The family-run establishment, long considered a staple of the community, cited ongoing financial challenges and unresolved tax issues as the reasons behind the difficult decision to shut down. For decades, Nino’s was more than a place to grab a meal — it was a comforting constant for generations of local families. Many residents remember dining at Nino’s as part of their family tradition, whether it was weeknight dinners, Sunday breakfasts, or special occasions. Founded by its namesake, Nino, the restaurant became a beloved fixture in the area. Even after his passing, the family remained committed to keeping the business alive, maintaining his legacy and continuing to serve the community with pride and dedication. The family emphasized how deeply personal the restaurant was to them. It wasn’t just their livelihood — it was their way of connecting with neighbors, sharing meals, and building relationships over decades of service. But like many small, family-owned businesses across the country, they struggled to withstand rising costs and financial pressure. The closure marks a significant loss for Cape May Courthouse. Beyond the food, Nino’s represented continuity — a gathering place where stories were shared, milestones celebrated, and memories made. Though the restaurant is now closed, its impact on the community remains lasting.

Winter Storm Outlook Dims for Region, Cold Snap Continues

As the bitter cold maintains its grip through the weekend, forecasters continue to monitor the development of a coastal storm expected to form off the East Coast. While the storm still appears likely and may become both large and powerful, the potential for widespread snow across the region is fading. At this stage, the best chance for accumulating snowfall lies along the immediate coastal areas of New Jersey. Inland regions, including eastern Pennsylvania and western New Jersey, are now projected to see little to no snow from the system. A small chance remains for light snowfall Saturday night into Sunday morning, particularly in southern and eastern areas closer to the coast, but any meaningful accumulation seems unlikely for most. Despite the decreased snow risk, the storm could still bring other coastal hazards. With a full moon coinciding with the system’s timing, high tides, strong onshore winds, and the potential for beach erosion and tidal flooding are concerns for shoreline communities. The exact track and intensity of the storm are still uncertain, and even minor shifts could lead to significant forecast changes. However, the likelihood of a major winter storm for the broader region, once pegged at 30%, has now dropped to just 10%. Meanwhile, frigid conditions continue across the area, with nighttime lows plunging below zero and dangerously low wind chills expected through at least Saturday morning.
