Cape May Mayor Zack Mullock Weighs Challenge to Rep. Jeff Van Drew

Cape May Mayor Zack Mullock is considering a Democratic run for New Jerseyās 2nd Congressional District, potentially challenging U.S. Rep. Jeff Van Drew. First elected mayor in 2020, Mullock says growing political division, economic inequality and recent national controversies have prompted him to explore a congressional bid. The district spans much of South Jersey, and he would need to expand his name recognition beyond Cape May. Mullock points to his record of bipartisan leadership, historic preservation work and advocacy on economic and constitutional issues as key components of a possible campaign. The primary filing deadline is March 23.
Cape Mayās Exit Zero Festival Blends Coastal Charm with Crescent City Sound

Each fall, the Exit Zero Jazz Festival transforms Cape May into a lively hub of world-class jazz infused with unmistakable New Orleans flair. Named for its location at the southernmost point of the Garden State Parkway, the festival has built a reputation for blending coastal charm with rich musical tradition. A hallmark of the event is its festive second line procession, which brings brass bands and festivalgoers through the Washington Street Mall in a celebratory march to the Cape May Convention Center. Founded in 2012 by former WWOZ jazz DJ Michael Kline, the festival was created to continue Cape Mayās jazz legacy after the original Cape May Jazz Festival ended. Since then, Exit Zero has grown into a respected biannual event known for its intimate atmosphere and carefully curated lineup. Headlining performances take place in the 800-seat convention center, while additional concerts are staged at venues throughout the city, offering audiences close-up access to both legendary performers and emerging talents. The 2025 edition featured a diverse roster of artists, including Cassandra Wilson celebrating the 30th anniversary of New Moon Daughter, Stanley Clarke, Omar Sosa Quarteto Americanos, Roy Hargroveās Crisol, Endea Owens & The Cookout, and many others. By pairing jazz icons with rising stars, the festival continues to honor the genreās storied past while nurturing its future, solidifying Cape Mayās place on the jazz map
