Cape May Goes Green for Month-Long O’Harry’s St. Patrick’s Pop-Up

Another sign that Spring is around the corner, despite all that white stuff still on the ground. Harry’s Ocean Bar & Grille are launching the second annual O’Harry’s St. Patrick’s Day Pop-Up Experience, running from February 27 through March 29, 2026. Following the popularity of seasonal transformations like Boo Bar and Jingle Bar, the Irish-themed takeover aims to bring another immersive celebration to the offseason calendar. Located at 1025 Beach Avenue, Harry’s will be fully transformed into O’Harry’s, complete with festive décor, glowing green lights, and playful Irish-inspired touches throughout the space. The pop-up will operate Fridays through Sundays, with extended hours on March 17 for St. Patrick’s Day. Guests can look forward to live Irish music every Saturday night, themed menus, specialty cocktails, Irish beers, tasting dinners, and a variety of special events scheduled throughout the month. Organizers hope the expanded event will continue drawing visitors to Cape May beyond the traditional summer season. The entertainment schedule includes several marquee events: a Jameson whiskey pairing dinner on March 6, a Celtic rock performance on March 7, a Paint n Sip night on March 13, and a large-scale St. Patrick’s Blow Out Bash on March 14. With themed décor, hearty Irish fare, and a packed entertainment lineup, O’Harry’s is poised to become a signature spring celebration in Cape May.

Montgomery County Restaurant Owners Buy Salty Mermaid in North Wildwood for $2.45M

According to an article in the online magazine, Montco Today, a trio of Montgomery County restaurateurs is deepening its footprint at the Jersey Shore with the purchase of a second North Wildwood property in just three months. Gent Mema, Orbelin Bitraj, and Joshua Friedberg have acquired the Salty Mermaid Bar & Grille for $2.45 million, expanding their growing hospitality portfolio beyond Montgomery and Delaware counties.  The group had already purchased the former Trio North Wildwood property at 700 New Jersey Ave in December of 2025. The 4,000-square-foot Salty Mermaid accommodates up to 200 guests across indoor and outdoor seating areas and is already a favorite spot for locals and vacationers alike. The restaurant is slated to reopen in mid-April, featuring an updated menu inspired by the eclectic cuisine at The Library. While the culinary offerings will evolve, the team plans to retain the Salty Mermaid name and preserve the existing layout. In addition to the recent acquisition, the group is currently redeveloping the space on New Jersey Avenue, about a mile away, into a new Italian dining concept. Scheduled to debut by Memorial Day weekend, the restaurant will emphasize fresh seafood, house-made pasta, and craft cocktails, aiming to introduce an upscale, urban-style dining experience to the Shore. With two North Wildwood locations preparing for a busy summer season, the restaurateurs are expected to hire dozens of seasonal employees to staff both establishments.

Early Morning Fire Forces Closure of Wildwood High School

Wildwood High School was closed Wednesday morning after a fire broke out inside the building, officials confirmed. Fire crews from Wildwood and North Wildwood responded to the school just before 5 a.m. when a fire alarm was activated. Upon arrival, firefighters located the source of the blaze in the heating and air-conditioning unit of a third-floor classroom. The fire was quickly extinguished, limiting the extent of the damage. Authorities credited the rapid response of the first arriving crews with preventing the situation from becoming more serious. The incident remains under investigation by the Cape May County Fire Marshal’s Office along with the Wildwood Fire Department’s Fire Investigation Unit. The school had already been scheduled for a two-hour delayed opening due to a snowstorm. However, district officials ultimately closed the high school for the day. Meanwhile, Glenwood Avenue School and the Early Childhood Annex in Wildwood operated on a delayed schedule and held classes as planned.
