Cape May Police Charge Connecticut Teens in Summer Theft Incidents

Two 19-year-olds from Bristol, Connecticut, have been charged in connection with a string of vehicle burglaries and the theft of a car in Cape May, New Jersey, dating back to August 2025. The investigation began after a resident on Missouri Avenue reported that a vehicle left parked overnight had disappeared by morning. Police conducted a detailed, months-long investigation, using surveillance footage and information gathered from witnesses to identify the suspects. Authorities determined the case was linked to a broader pattern of vehicle-related crimes in the area. As a result, both individuals now face third-degree charges of receiving stolen property and conspiracy. Officials have not disclosed how the suspects came to be in Cape May at the time of the incidents, and the investigation remains ongoing as police ask anyone with any additional information to reach out to Cape May Crimestoppers.

Live Music by the Water: Somers Point Unveils Summer Concert Series

Somers Point’s Beach Concert Series will return for the summer of 2026 with a lineup of 13 free performances held along the bay at William Morrow Beach. Running from mid-June through mid-September, the weekly Friday night concerts will feature a wide range of musical styles, including rock, blues, soul, and tribute acts. The series, which has gained national recognition in recent years, regularly draws large crowds and features a blend of well-known touring artists, Grammy-winning musicians, and popular regional performers. Notable acts this year include Mitch Ryder, John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band, and Deep Blue Something, along with several tribute bands honoring artists like Bruce Springsteen and The Beatles. Concerts begin at 7 p.m. and offer a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere where attendees are encouraged to bring chairs or blankets. Accessible seating is available, and shows may be moved indoors if weather conditions require. The event continues to be a major summer attraction at the Jersey Shore, combining live music with scenic waterfront views.

North Wildwood to Build 750-Foot Bulkhead to Fight Beach Erosion

North Wildwood is moving forward with plans to strengthen its coastline by constructing a new beachfront bulkhead designed to protect against ongoing erosion and storm damage. The project will span roughly 750 feet, extending from the midpoint between 12th and 13th avenues to 15th Avenue. It will tie into existing bulkhead structures already in place along the shoreline, creating a more continuous barrier. City officials say the decision comes after repeated storms and tidal activity caused significant erosion to the beach and dunes in the area, raising concerns about the potential for breaches that could threaten nearby infrastructure and properties. Construction is scheduled to begin soon and is expected to wrap up before Memorial Day weekend, aligning with the start of the busy summer tourism season. The project has received all necessary approvals from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. During construction, sections of the beachfront bike path between 12th and 15th avenues may be temporarily closed. Once the work is complete, public access points over the dunes and bulkhead will be restored.
