Meet Ember: New Red Panda Debuts at Cape May County Zoo

Cape May County Zoo has introduced a new attraction that is already delighting visitors: Ember, a 9-month-old red panda settling into her new home. Ember arrived earlier this month from the Trevor Lovejoy Zoo at Millbrook School in New York and is gradually adjusting to her surroundings. Zoo staff describe her as both curious and cautious as she explores her habitat. She has shown a playful side as well, especially when interacting with enrichment activities that keep her active and engaged. Now residing in the zoo’s panda exhibit, Ember shares the spotlight with Aurora, the zoo’s other red panda. Visitors may spot Ember in the rear panda yard or indoors, where she can retreat as she continues to acclimate. Red pandas, native to the forests of the Eastern Himalayas, are known for their reddish coats and bamboo-heavy diet. Often nicknamed “firefox,” the species was identified decades before the giant panda, giving it the distinction of being the original panda.
Great Egg Hunts Return to Ocean City Boardwalk as Spring Events Bloom

Ocean City is launching its spring season with a series of family-oriented events centered on the Boardwalk and downtown area, beginning with two Great Egg Hunts scheduled for March 28 and April 4. Designed for children ages 7 and under, the hunts invite families to visit more than 50 participating shops to collect eggs filled with treats and prizes in a festive, trick-or-treat-style format. In addition to the egg hunts, the Easter Bunny will make several appearances at Mark Soifer Park, giving families opportunities for photos while նաև encouraging visits to nearby shops and restaurants. Easter weekend will feature a sunrise service at the Ocean City Music Pier, followed later in the day by a dueling pianos performance and themed photo opportunities with the Easter Bunny. The celebrations extend throughout April with a diverse lineup of events, including Girls Weekend with shopping and wellness activities, the OC Con comic and memorabilia show, the lively Doo Dah Parade, and a two-day Sports Memorabilia Show. Together, these events highlight Ocean City’s effort to offer entertainment for families, visitors, and the local community throughout the spring season..
South Jersey Congressman Targets High Energy Charges With New Proposals

Rep. Jeff Van Drew is urging New Jersey officials to take stronger action on rising utility bills, highlighting high delivery fees that often exceed energy costs. While Governor Mikie Sherrill has taken initial steps to reduce costs through bill credits and a pause on rate increases. Despite those steps, Van Drew maintains that stronger action is needed. He argues that state officials have the authority to eliminate what he describes as excessive delivery charges and is urging them to do so. While he is pursuing federal measures aimed at reducing certain energy-related costs, he emphasized that the core issue must be addressed at the state level.
