Cape May Ironworker Among Victims in Deadly Philadelphia Garage Collapse

A Cape May community is mourning the loss of local resident Matt Kane following a deadly collapse at a parking garage construction site in Philadelphia earlier this week. Mayor Zack Mullock expressed deep sorrow over Kane’s death, noting the profound impact on his family, friends, and the broader community during an already difficult time. Kane, an ironworker and member of Ironworkers Local Union 401, was working on the structure when a section of the stairwell roof suddenly failed. The collapse triggered a chain reaction that brought down connected portions of the garage across all seven levels of the building, which is linked to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Kane was widely known in Cape May as part of a respected local family, and his death has deeply affected the community. As recovery operations continue, investigators are working to determine the cause of the collapse.
Wildwood Music Festival Nears Capacity as GA Tickets Sell Out

Tickets for one of the Jersey Shore’s biggest summer events are disappearing fast, and according to their website, Barefoot Country Music Fest in Wildwood have officially sold out all General Admission passes. The four-day festival, scheduled for June 18 through June 21, is expected to draw massive crowds to the beach. With general admission no longer available, only a limited number of Main Stage VIP and higher-tier tickets remain. Event organizers are urging ticket holders to act quickly if they are considering an upgrade. Those with general admission passes still have the option to move into the Main Stage VIP section by paying the difference in price through the festival’s ticket management system. VIP ticket holders receive additional perks beyond general admission, including access to a private viewing area near the main stage, a dedicated entrance, exclusive bars, and private restrooms. With demand at capacity, the likelihood of additional ticket releases or single-day passes appears low. This year’s lineup features more than 40 performers, including major headliners Eric Church, Miranda Lambert, Post Malone, and Kelsea Ballerini. The festival spans four days, with each night closing out with a top-billed act and a full schedule of supporting performances throughout.
Cape May Marks Earth Day with Community Beach Cleanup Events

Cape May residents and visitors will have multiple opportunities to give back this Earth Day with organized beach cleanups aimed at preserving the shoreline. An afternoon cleanup is scheduled for April 22 from 3 to 5 p.m. at Poverty Beach, where volunteers will gather to remove debris and help maintain the area ahead of the busy spring and summer seasons. Participants are encouraged to bring their own bags or buckets to assist with the effort. The event is part of ongoing local initiatives focused on protecting the coastal environment and keeping Cape May’s beaches clean and accessible. In addition to the afternoon effort, a separate Earth Day beach cleanup is planned earlier in the day from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., offering another opportunity for community members to get involved. Organizers say both events are open to volunteers of all ages and serve as a simple but meaningful way to support environmental stewardship in the region.
