Fireside Theater Event Brings Boston Tea Party to Life in Cape May

An immersive theater experience at Cold Spring Brewery in Cape May is set to bring Revolutionary-era history to life through an intimate fireside discussion titled “That Baneful Weed.” Scheduled April 23rd from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at the village’s Seashore Road location, the event invites attendees to step back into the 18th century and explore the cultural and political tensions surrounding the Boston Tea Party. The program features live portrayals of Abigail Adams and Sarah Bradlee Fulton, offering insight into how women experienced and influenced the colonial resistance to British taxation. Set within a cozy hall designed to evoke a colonial gathering, the event emphasizes interaction and storytelling, creating a personal connection to the past. Guests will be seated near a fireplace setting while engaging with the historical figures as they discuss the growing unrest over the British Tea Act and the symbolism of tea as a point of protest. Adding to the atmosphere, attendees will be served a selection of refreshments, including tea, cookies, sweets, and finger sandwiches, reflecting the social customs of the era. The program also highlights the broader historical context of the Boston Tea Party, the 1773 protest in which colonists dumped hundreds of chests of tea into Boston Harbor in defiance of British taxation policies. That act of resistance led to severe repercussions from the British government, escalating tensions that would ultimately contribute to the American Revolution.
Great White Roller Coaster Gets Smoother, Faster Makeover for 2026 Season

One of the Jersey Shore’s most well-known attractions is set to return as Morey’s Piers in Wildwood reopens for the 2026 season. This year brings added excitement with a major upgrade to its famous Great White roller coaster. Work has focused on improving the ride experience without changing the coaster’s overall design. About 485 feet of track is being replaced, specifically in two high-impact sections known for sharp turns and heavy wear. These areas typically require the most maintenance due to the stress placed on the track during operation. The Great White first opened in 1996, and the park has continued to invest in improvements to keep it running at a high level. Park officials say this project has been planned for years as part of ongoing maintenance and modernization efforts. Additional recent upgrades include new Millennium Flyer trains, which help reduce the roughness often associated with older wooden coasters. Earlier improvements also included track work and updated ride systems.
Jersey Cape Con Returns to Cape May County Library with Free All-Day Event

A fan-favorite pop culture event is returning to Cape May County this spring, bringing the excitement of a comic convention into a local library setting. Jersey Cape Con is set for Saturday, April 25, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Cape May Court House branch of the Cape May County Library. The free, all-ages event invites residents and visitors to spend the day immersed in comics, gaming, and creative activities without the need for registration. Attendees can browse and shop from local vendors, meet area authors, and take part in a wide range of interactive experiences. The event will feature board and video games, hands-on workshops, and craft activities designed to appeal to all age groups. Programming throughout the day will spotlight local talent. A children’s author will host a story time and costume parade for younger attendees, while another presenter will offer guidance on tabletop role-playing games and character creation. An art workshop led by a local illustrator will give participants a chance to explore their creative skills.
