Auditions Open in Margate for Summer Production of ‘The Drowsy Chaperone’

Fool Moon Theatre Company is preparing for its Summer 2026 production of “The Drowsy Chaperone” with open auditions scheduled in Margate. The Tony Award-winning musical is a playful tribute to 1920s American musical comedies, featuring a lively Jazz Age score and a comedic storyline filled with romance, mishaps, and theatrical flair. The production centers on a devoted theater fan whose favorite cast album springs to life, unfolding a whimsical tale involving a bride and groom-to-be, a Broadway performer, a bumbling best man, eccentric gangsters in disguise, and a host of colorful characters. The show is known for its energetic musical numbers and over-the-top humor. Auditions are open to men and women ages 18 and older and will take place at Margate Community Church on Ventnor Avenue. Sessions are scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 19. Performers should arrive prepared to sing using their own backing track. In addition to vocal auditions, participants will be asked to read from scenes and demonstrate physical comedy, movement, and dance ability. Cape May to Host Jersey Cape Sea Glass Festival on Mother’s Day Weekend

The Jersey Cape Sea Glass and Coastal Arts Festival will return to Historic Cold Spring Village in Cape May on May 9 and May 10, 2026, offering a weekend dedicated to coastal art, sea glass collecting, and family-friendly activities. Held annually over Mother’s Day weekend, the two-day festival celebrates the maritime culture of the Jersey Shore. More than 75 local and regional artists and fine craft vendors are expected to participate, showcasing handmade items such as sea glass jewelry, coastal paintings, photography, woodwork, and ceramics. Visitors will also have opportunities to learn more about beachcombing and sea glass collecting through educational lectures presented by authors and collectors. In addition to art displays and educational programs, the festival will feature live music, food trucks, and activities for children, creating an event designed for visitors of all ages. The festival will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days at Historic Cold Spring Village, located at 735 Seashore Road in Cape May. Admission costs $12 for one day or $20 for a two-day pass.
