Cape May’s Jawbone Gallery Opens 2026 Season with ‘Carbon, Ink, & Ash’ Exhibition

Jawbone Gallery in Cape May will launch its 2026 season with Carbon, Ink, & Ash, a group exhibition that highlights the expressive potential of some of art’s most fundamental materials. Opening tomorrow, Saturday, April 18 , the show marks the gallery’s third anniversary and brings together a diverse lineup of contemporary artists working with graphite, ink, and charcoal. The exhibition centers on how these raw elements—often associated with drawing at its most basic level—can be transformed into striking works that range from detailed realism to bold abstraction. The collection emphasizes process-driven creation, where gesture, texture, and material take precedence. Through this approach, the works explore contrasts such as control versus spontaneity and permanence versus impermanence, offering viewers insight into both the finished pieces and the methods behind them. More than 20 artists are featured, including Jenn Gibson, Josh Keyes, Vanessa Foley, Esao Andrews, Bo Bartlett, and Victor Grasso, among others. The exhibition continues Jawbone Gallery’s focus on presenting boundary-pushing contemporary art that resonates with both collectors and the broader community. An opening reception, free and open to the public, will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. at the gallery’s Perry Street location. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet fellow art enthusiasts and experience the work in an intimate, community-focused setting. The exhibition continues until May 18.
Wildwood Boardwalk Ranked Best in Nation for Second Straight Year

The Wildwood Boardwalk has once again earned national recognition, securing the top spot in USA Today’s 2026 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards for the second consecutive year. The annual rankings, determined through a mix of expert selections and public voting, placed the Wildwoods ahead of several prominent destinations across the country. Competing boardwalks included well-known locations in Texas, Maryland, California, and other parts of New Jersey, yet the Wildwoods maintained its position at the top. The repeat honor highlights the continued popularity of the Jersey Shore destination among visitors and residents alike. Spanning 38 blocks, the boardwalk has grown significantly since its beginnings in the 1890s, when it measured just 150 yards. Today, it features a wide range of attractions, including shops, restaurants, bars, water parks, and amusement piers with more than 100 rides and activities.
