Someone just spent $236,000,000 on a painting. Here’s why it matters for your wallet.

Late last year, a Klimt sold for the highest price ever paid for modern art at auction.

An outlier sure, but it wasn't a fluke. U.S. auction sales grew 23.1% in 2025. The $1-5mm segment even grew 40.8% YoY.

Now, the S&P, teetering on all time highs, just posted its worst quarter since 2022, oil was up 94% (briefly), and Moody's puts recession odds at 48.6%.

Each environment is unique, but after dot-com, post war and contemporary art grew about 24% annually for a decade. After 2008, about 11% for 12 years.

It’s also had near-zero correlation with the S&P 500 since ‘95.*

Now, Masterworks lets you invest in shares of artworks featuring legends like Banksy, Basquiat, and Picasso.

  • $1.3 billion invested across over 500 artworks.

  • 28 sales to date.

  • Net annualized returns on sold works held 12 months+ like 14.6%, 17.6%, and 17.8%.

Cape May Winery Heads to Auction with $500K Starting Bid

Natali Vineyards & Winery, a well-established 25-year-old winery in Cape May Court House, New Jersey, is set to be sold through an online auction running May 11–13, with a starting bid of $500,000. The sale includes the full 22-acre property, eight acres of mature grapevines, all winemaking and production equipment, and the existing business operations, making it a turnkey opportunity for buyers. The winery currently produces around 6,000 gallons of wine annually and offers a diverse selection of 14 varieties, including classic grapes like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay, and Zinfandel, as well as specialty fruit wines such as blueberry, cranberry, and beach plum. The property features a tasting room that serves customers on-site and supports direct-to-consumer sales, including online orders. Located within the Outer Coastal Plain American Viticultural Area, the vineyard benefits from a climate well-suited to grape growing. The business also holds a plenary wine license, allowing for expansion through off-site sales locations. While the winery has an established presence and infrastructure, financial details have not been disclosed, and the current owner is selling as part of a transition plan.
