Volunteers Needed for Sea Glass Festival at Cold Spring Village

Someone just spent $236,000,000 on a painting. Here’s why it matters for your wallet.

Late last year, a Klimt sold for the highest price ever paid for modern art at auction.

An outlier sure, but it wasn't a fluke. U.S. auction sales grew 23.1% in 2025. The $1-5mm segment even grew 40.8% YoY.

When the S&P 500 finished its worst quarter since 2022 last month, diversifiers like bonds and bitcoin fell too.

Even with the turnaround in mid-April, analysts at Goldman Sachs and Vanguard have projected low-single-digit annualized returns from 2024-2034.

So, what kind of investment is largely indifferent to the forces driving everything else?

Masterworks lets you invest in shares of artworks featuring legends like Banksy, Basquiat, and Picasso.

  • Access to an asset class with historically low correlation and attractive appreciation (‘95-’25).*

  • Net annualized returns on 28 sold works held 12 months+ like 14.6%, 17.6%, and 17.8%.

  • $1.3 billion invested across over 500 artworks.

Volunteers Needed for Sea Glass Festival at Cold Spring Village

Organizers are calling on volunteers to help bring one of Cape May County’s popular spring events to life as the Jersey Cape Sea Glass & Coastal Arts Festival returns to Historic Cold Spring Village. Set for May 9 and 10 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the festival will feature more than 75 local and regional artists and craft vendors. The event blends coastal culture with hands-on activities, offering live music, food trucks, children’s events, and educational opportunities such as sea glass identification and talks from collectors and authors. To support the two-day event, volunteers are needed for a variety of roles. Tasks include assisting with event setup, helping vendors, greeting guests, and supporting operations throughout the grounds.  Historic Cold Spring Village officials say volunteer support plays a key role in creating a welcoming atmosphere and ensuring the festival runs smoothly during what is expected to be a busy weekend. Those interested in volunteering can reach out directly via email or phone ([email protected] or 609-898-2300)  to event organizers for more information and scheduling.

Skinny Joey’s Announces Boardwalk Location, Job Fair in May

Skinny Joey’s Cheesesteaks, which has built a strong following in Philadelphia, is expanding with a second shop set for 2812 Magnolia Avenue, at the site of a former pizzeria. The announcement was shared on social media, signaling the brand’s first move into the shore area. Preparations are already underway ahead of the busy summer season. A job fair is scheduled for May 9 from noon to 4 p.m., where the business will be hiring for a range of positions including cooks, managers, pizza makers, and counter staff. The timing suggests the official opening will follow shortly after staffing is finalized. The new boardwalk location is expected to draw both locals and tourists eager to try a cheesesteak that has earned attention in its home city. With Wildwood’s summer crowds on the horizon, the expansion positions Skinny Joey’s to become a new food destination along the shore. Joseph “Skinny Joey” Merlino has transitioned from a controversial past into a public role as a restaurateur and media personality. His Skinny Joey’s Cheesesteaks brand has attracted strong interest, alongside his growing presence in digital media.

County Officials Begin Spring Campaign to Reduce Rabies Risk

Cape May County will distribute over 30,000 rabies vaccine baits in early May to curb the spread of the disease in wildlife. The program, targeting raccoon habitats, is safe for pets but comes with safety guidelines for residents. Officials stress the importance of avoiding contact with baits, keeping pets controlled, and seeking immediate medical care if exposure to rabies is suspected.
